I agree 100%. I just talked with the guy who sold it to me, and he said I only need to hook up one wire for the lock-up.

why not take the plug from your old trans ??? you didn't throw it away did ya ??

And you lose your 3rd and 4th gear signal for the ecm.

I do not want to take the tranny apart to replace the wiring with the old. I will try the single wire and see if it works.

i have the same trans i had to take the harness from the old trans and put it in the new one and it shift correctly turbotoy

It sounds like you got an off the shelf, fits all HP 200-4R with no consideration for the cars existing wiring. Which means to me that the calibration is going to be suspect as was mentioned earlier by someone else. It is not good to rush into buying a transmission with these cars. Good luck.

live and learn  :p

As mentioned above, you may have some driveability problems. You need the wiring harness and connector off of your old trans to work properly. The ecm will be looking for your 3rd and 4th gear switches. You will need 2 wires for your converter lockup to work. The computer grounds the low side of the solenoid to activate it. Also, your shift points are going to be off if you are not using the BRF valve body and governor.

i had the same fear as most did when i ordered my raptor trans and everyone said the same things it not goin to last. when i changed the connector it did perfect. i have had the trans in since 2001 and have been through 3 converters (just goin looser started with 2800 and now at 3500 ). car runs high 10's and performes perfect! turbotoy

What level (1, 2 or 3) did you get? I got the level 3. I called the shop who installed the trans to see if they still have the old trans and wiring.

I have no ware to keep the old core, I just cleaned up all the old parts and junk I had laying around.

back in 01 when i bought mine there was no 1-2-3 i just called and told them what i wanted and was doin with it and made sure it had all the correct hard parts. so probley mines what they would call level 3. turbotoy

BRF cores are cheap and easy to find anyway
Yea.... GM is still cranking the trannys out....... NOT.....

I would definately get the core back....confirm it was my core... and stash it somewhere..... I don't know what you would have to give for your core.... but it is probably worth $150-$250 sight unseen if it is a true GN BRF tranny. The tag back on the rear of the tranny ought to have BRF on it....

Stash it somewhere..... a few years from now you might be glad you did....

I ended up buying a trans end TCC connector from Caspers and installing it. I also bought a TCC solenoid from Kerbans, but that did not fit properly, so I left the TCC that came with the trans and changed the trans side connector. I have not test driven it yet, but did get a nice Dextron 3 shampoo.

The new TCC solenoid didn't fit? Bad sign. Next time you're in the pan, take some pics and post them.

Was the new TCC longer? A lot of replacement TCC solenoids are for a 700 which are longer. To use in a 200, there are a pair of stand offs that are usually supplied with the TCC solenoid to use when putting it in a 200.

The only difference was three wires instead of four, and the fact that the bolts were 13mm, rather then the 10mm.
