hey guys. im new here. just got my hands on a 84 hot air engine from a regal T type. the guy i bought it from claims it has 61 000 Kms (37000 miles).
im new to buicks in general so i dont really know much bout them

what should i be looking for in my engine like common problems?
what parts/ seals should i replace while the engine is out.?

btw the engine is going in a 1987 RX-7 ;)
thanks guys

lol

well shoot us a picture so we can see what your starting out with... hard to say what she needs until you have it running and being scanned. but if its got major grease crustys we could probably point out gasket or seal issues.

well im a mechanic i know how to find leaks, the whole engine is dry as a bone. it was pulled fromcar with only had 37 000 miles
i just wanna know what the most common seals and bearings that go quick on these motors so i can replace them while the motor is out.
since its going in a Rx7 its gonna be a tight fit

Very cool, I am hybrid myself... have mine dropped in a chevy luv. So i understand space constraints well! LOL

Well if that motor is that low on miles, there should be very little to check out... they are pretty durable as they are. If it isnt leaking and the seals are holding good, i wouldnt want to open it up and disturb that. Id say if your using the factory electronics inspect all that stuff well or start maybe looking into doing the 87 ecm upgrade since your a hybrid anyways.

i look forward to seeing your install!

the 87 ecm. is it a direct plug and play with my 84 spec harness? or do i need to get an adapter harness? wouldn't i have to get the 87 spec ignition control module aswell?

so ur saying the electronics are what go bad?
