This morning my 87 gn left me walking. It sputtered a few times and the cel flashed a couple time now it will not start.

I have checked the fuel pressure and it's almost 40lbs with the key on.

The battery is weak now but with key on the cel will now come on. I will not show the codes. I am going to try again once I get it home.

Where do I start?

I was going to purchase a power logger in the next few weeks.

It's an 87 gn with stock turbo, stock maf, TT chip, blue strip injectors, 3" down pipe, gutted cat, 2 1/4" dual exhaust, hot wire walbo fuel pump.

Check the chip, make sure its seated with no bent pins. Orange ECM power wire by the battery, make sure it has power and it plugged in. Check ECM fuse, see if it's popped. Positive battery cable may have shorted on header. Battery has to have at least 10 volts for anything to sort of work.

I will check those items out once I get it home.

Will a crapped out MAF cause a not start issue?

I was having a tip in stumble for a long time.

I also have been having a knock issue that I just figured out. I have had the car only a few months and trying to work out the bugs. One major issue was slow to crank. Found out the main ground from the battery was not bolted to the block. It was just sitting there. Bolted it up and it fixed a lot of the bugs I was having. I only fixed that a couple weeks ago.

Check the crank sensor it may have contacted the interuptor ring and broke. A baf MAF sensor usually causes the engine to run rough.

I just pulled the ECM from the kick panel. Both connectors have green corrosion on and in them. Also one of the pins from the ECM stayed in the connector.

This may not have been the problem but I bet it did not help. I assume this would explaine the no cel. I also noticed while looking at the fuel pump would not come on when I cycle the key but I could jump the relay on the hot wire kit.

Off to find an ECM. I am thinking about buying one from highway stars and get the replacement connectors from Caspers.

Brandon.

Use dielectric grease next go at it.

Too late to patch up the ECM connectors. You need to replace both connectors AND the ECM. This is your problem, or at least one of the main problems.

Do not forget to check the fuseable links that are normally attached to the starter + post. Do a search, there is a recent post that included a diagram of the links.

Got my ECM from High way stars and my new plug from caspers. I plugged in the ECM to the old plug just to see if it will run. Runs good. Now need to instill the plugs and fix the water leak in the T tops.

You just transferred the corrosion to the new ECM...

Seriously if you bought the harness connector from Caspers take the time and replace it to. I had a rusted out pin connector on my ECM a few years ago after replacing the ECM still had the problem. The harness side was rusted an completly coroded. Its a pain to do but I cut the harness connector off and resoldered EACH wire.

I have the plug. Here in the next hour or two I am going to cut and solder it on. At the same time I am trying to figurae out how to stop the water leak until I can replace the rusted out header panel with the one from gbody parts.

The ECM was plugged into the old plug for a whole 5 min to see if it would start. I don't think this will cause an issue. The plug will get a coating of Dow chemical 111 silicone on it to help protect it some.

The B7 yellow with a black strip wire has a bs clip on wire splice. One of the ones that you clamp around the wire and it cuts through the insulation. I assume this was for the kenne bell knock sensors that was in the car when I bought it. It did not work correctly so I took it out.

Does that sound about right?
