Before I even ran my new 5831 I sent it to the polisher (Custom Polish) to have the compressor housing done and I just received it back after about 1.5 weeks, so I wanted to share some pics and my thoughts.

Price was about $125 and I admit that it's not a perfect polish job but I think it will be fine for my use. The disappointing part was that they didn't clean the polishing compound off it so I spent some elbow time cleaning it up. Actually I tossed it in the dishwasher...BIG MISTAKE! It really dulled the finish so I had to buff it all over again.
I received quotes from other companies for approx. $145 but the lead time was 4-6 weeks out and I didn't want to wait that long. So in a nutshell for what I paid I'm pretty happy with how it looks.

I've had good luck with windex to take off polishing compound on what I polish at work. Mr Clean works too. You can use an old tooth brush to scrub it in.

Looks like it came out pretty good. I have an old polished ta49 thats gotten pretty dull i'm thinking about trying to polish back up.

Yea, I thought I had some around but I don't so I'll have to pick some up.
