The other day I had to jump the battery on the GN since the battery was low due to it sitting for awhile. My son asked to help, so I told him that he can start the GN. This is the first time he's ever started a car on his own and what better way to do it than in a GN with open exhaust. :) I captured the moment on my phone. Sorry, the audio is super distorted.

between the screaming and the car it blew out my speakers and i loved every moment of it. the chills of seeing the kids excitement made it all worth it. its great to see how we all started. you just let loose a lil mad men. dr jekyl and mr hyde. lol

He is already a mad man. Here is him in his PowerWheels jeep a couple years ago after we got done with reinventing it....

Awesome! You better start saving $$ to get his TurboBuick when he turns 16 :)

That was Awesome!!
My boy is already showing signs of being a gearhead and hes turning 4 next month.

My kid is 18 and doesn't even want to get his license! I have failed as a gearhead father. Believe me, I tried.

i think its just a different generation. but it has to hurt a little bit.

Can't remember the last time he rode in the GN, in my day my Dad would have been a hero if he had a high performance car. Sadly mine wasn't a gearhead either, guess it skips a generation in my family.

Nobody else in my family are real gearheads, however my Dad had a '68 GS 400 4 spd that got me going. I loved to ride along while he would slam through the gears and hear the tires begging for mercy the whole time. I would laugh just like my son does while my big sister would be in the back screaming and crying lol. She is a super cautious driver now. Pretty sure she was damaged while I got the need for speed embedded in me. My uncle had a '74 Stingray that I liked. I had a couple big brother figures in my life with cool cars. One had a Porsche 924S and 944. The other had a lifted '85 Toyota truck.

So here is something funny....
Here is a pic that I drew at 7 and one that my son drew at 7. Mine is on top. As we can all tell artistry is not in our family lol. But look closely and check out what we each labeled our cars.

My son is also 18. He doesnt have his drivers license either. He is quite mechanical. Today he welded up a Dr side exhaust manifold and helped me swap it onto the car. He just doesn't have an interest in driving . He walks or rides his bicycle. Just way different than our and earlier generations. Our middle daughter is 16 and she doesnt have her license either.
Just seems wrong.
Glad your son is showing interest op.

You said it. Most teenage boys are not into cars. It's odd. When I was a kid I couldn't wait. I got in my first street race within a day of getting my license. Blew up the motor on the GS within a week. That was thanks to the nylon upper timing gear though. Swapped a 430 in not too long after and spun a bearing doing a huge burnout a month later. Rebuilt that motor and the rest is history.

I've had my son watching car and race videos since he was an infant. For awhile I thought he wasn't into it, but it slowly caught on. He has always been into cars, but until lately it has been hot wheels, toys, his Powerwheels, stuff he can relate to. Now he likes to go to car shows, ride in the GN, etc.

This video is great! Just showed it to my boy who's just about 3 years old. He screamed like your boy when it fired up and said he wants to do that to mine! Thanks for sharing, I may have to make my own version soon lol!

Glad that this is some motivation for the other fathers out there. I don't shove cars down my son's throat, but I keep him exposed. When he was in diapers he was standing on the drivers seat pretending to drive. I fired it up with the test pipe unhooked and he got a huge grin. I was lucky enough to have the camera and snapped a picture. My nephew ran out of the garage crying lol. My niece loves cars...more of the driving part.
