I am confused, it is a fuddle racing HP series 3200 Stall Torque Converter for a TH400. I bought it directly from the Fuddle company. Would the stall speed differ from V8 application to a V6?? I can only foot break it up to 2300-2400 rpms, the brakes are not creeping, Im building about 2 lbs of boost with my CPTE44 when it gets to 2400rpms. It doesnt even Spin the tires, period.

I dont know what to do, I told them that it was going behind a Turbo V6.

Is it a restalled 12" smaller? They probably just missed the set-up. Make sure you have no exhaust leaks and the motor is running like it should (it's not overly rich or lean...all sensors reading correctly)

i know its a pain but you can get it restalled. i just sent out my precision converter to up the stall as it's supposed to be at 3500 and is low at 2800, and is a dog with the pt70 on it.

I didnt measure it or anything, but its only like 9-10" wide. The car is running great, builds boost good (Im only boosting 14psi for now), just doesnt seem to stall up like I thought it should. I told them exactly what it was going behind.

It's probably just too tight. You can send it back and have them loosen it. What you're experiencing is common for turbo V6 converters. It's a hit or miss for a lot of companies that have no experience with turbo V6's.

FYI...it's important to know what size converter you have. There's a HUGE difference in a 9" and 10". If your's is as tight as you describe it can't be much looser than a stock converter if you have trouble spooling a TE44. It could easily be a restalled stock 12" converter. I have also seen companies and local transmission shops put Monte Carlo converters in GN's and have the problems you describe. They will be a dog out of the hole....most times they will only build a couple pounds of boost and start to push the car.

How much will rich/lean conditions play into the stalling of the Torque Converter? I emailed the vendor to see what size it is for sure. I do believe I may be running a tad rich. I havent even started to tune yet, waiting on another Chip.

Fuddle dosen't have much experience with TR's. I had one in my Vette and it ended up being too loose. A while back Fuddle had really bad customer service, did they fix that?

Are you sure you don't have any exhaust leaks? If the tune isn't right it'll be hard to spool, also. That 44 should spool easily.

Fuddle seems to be coming around. I have heard good/ bad from all the main companies. I am coming from the LS1Tech community. So mainly its the TC companies that deal w/ LS1's etc.

As far as leaks, there could possibly be one (drivers side header) I need to check. Maybe @ the crossover too?? As far as after the downpipe, I have no exhaust.

Maybe Im being too picky & this is my 1st turbo anything. I'll take it to the track and see what happens!!!

Whats the huge difference 9' or 10"?

I have a Fuddle Racing 3400 LU in my 2004R and it stalls to exactly 3400. I'm happy with it.

Thanks for all the replies, I installed my new chip today, drove it around to learn etc and tried out the foot braking again. I still foot brake it up to 2400 rpms, 2-3lbs of boost. I'm gonna attempt to use the smoke machine @ work tomorrow to check for exhaust leaks. I'll get back w/ results

BTW, the car has little to no trouble building boost, right now @ a steady 15psi.

I did manage a burnout though and couldnt tell exactly what RPM the tires broke traction at. I think I have trouble doing a burnout b/c I did a rear disc conversion and didnt install a proportioning valve.

Found the leak. no 5 flange to primary is leaking. I'll pull it off and weld tonight. Any recommendation for welding stock header?

 Got it welded, runs better now, idle's much smoother. Still 2400ish, maybe a little bit more RPMs. Seemed to help spool up faster:D

Hell with it, I'll take it out to the track and see whats up:cool:

ran at the local track tonight and here is what I mustered. I ran a TT 93 Chip(zero adjustments) 16lbs of boost and unable to launch w/ boost(maybe 1-2lbs), stalling up to 2400-2500 rpms.

60' 2.1932
330 5.7331
1/8 et 8.5931
1/8mph 86.22
1/4 et 13.1771
1/4mph 106.87

This is a used TH400 off a BBC seems to shift fine.
