SignUp Now!Thanks alot Paul, i dont know much at all about the buicks but im going to learn real fast got mine tore apart and the engine had three lobes wore off the cam and spun rod bearing I plan on upgrading performance later just want to get it back runningMost people stick with a stock or close to stock cam well into the 10-second range. One of the more experienced members of this site mentioned the linked cam below as one that is decent and inexpensive.

Make sure you get the ZDDP additive if you use a flat tappet cam. Make sure you break the camshaft in properly too. Make sure your valve springs are up to par as well.
Best wishes to you. Reply if you need more help.

Yes plan on doing alot of reading especially on the timing saw some kind of tool that plugs into the cam sensor lights up when adjusted properly im sure i need one of thoseWELCOME PILGRIM!
You have some good advice above by Paul. If this is not your dailey driver, then try to get up to speed by reading alot! The buick v-6 has soem critical areas that need to be understood before attacking a rebuild. The oiling system requires close tolerances in order to produce the required psi, unlike the chevy/ford's. Depending on your performance goals(12's,11's,etc.) and how mod'd your new car is.(larger turbo, down-pipe, chip, throttle-body, etc.)
Check w/our vendors for cam choices and if it is affordable, go roller and avoid the pitfalls of the flat tappets. Our vendors are knowledgeable and gn owners, and offer good customer service. Also, you might have a buick club in your area that would be willing to offer you advice and help if possible.
Again Welcome!
what does the conversion to roller involve what keeps the lifters from turning do they use a link bar or something? Also do the use a sbc lifter?Put a 206-206 roller in it and don't look back. It'll take into the 10's with supporting mods and will work well for a stocker, great idle and all.
I think i like the FWD setup for financial reasons im gonna have to look around for these partsUnfortunately the Buick V6 lifters are not the same as small block Chevy. That would be nice if they were.
Two possibilities for the hydraulic roller lifter setup: aftermarket vertical tie bar lifters or FWD roller lifters and retainers.
This thread shows the FWD roller lifter system. You'll have to hunt for the FWD roller lifter retaining parts.

Here is one aftermarket kit that shows some of what you'll need. This kit uses vertical tie bar lifters.

From what I've read, the Comp lifters are sometimes noisy. The kit above uses Morel lifters.
Adjustable rocker arm system.
