Just my opinion....I would think you are going to have to knock all the putty off and weld it up to use it in a blown application. I think Jeff (Fat Nat) talked to you about this intake on Wednesday?????
The epoxy was common on cast aluminum intakes back in the 80's when TIG welding or cast aluminum welding was not as popular. The epoxy is just as hard as the metal and needs to be ground with a metal bit for forming. The epoxy was used for better air flow and contour where the casting was not as forgiving (sharp edges, or poor cast design). I've already shown this intake to Don Redmon of Replika Maschinen. He ported for NASCAR's Alan Kulwicki, Team Honda, and Team Kawasaki in their secret behind the door projects. He used epoxy on Alan's stuff and said there is no problem with the intake. He also mentioned that an intake from the 70's-80's era that did not have epoxy was probably never put on a flow bench and just used as is (therefore, never pushed to it's limits). This is totally fine for blown or forced air use.
