Guys...I apologize ahead of time for the lengthy post....but Im venting big time. I would like some advice. OK....here goes:
A)3:45pm...got in a little disagreement with a customer of the car dealership down the block. There is a lot for customers...so I asked him kindly if he could park there, as opposed to in front of the residents houses....he agrily said "No I dont want to park in the lot", at which point I said sarcastically "well...you might not want to park here either." He left his car and walked down to the dealership.
B)Keep in mind....an employee of the dealership was across the street...and he heard the whole conversation. When the customer went in the dealership....the employee changed directions and appared to follow him in. (note: the employees knows I have the 87 T on the street, the customer doesnt) I went to the laundermat with my mom and let it be.
C) About 5:45pm....both the customer and employee have left. Their cars were gone. I went to my car to dust it (which I did at 3:30 also)....and it was keyed in 3 places on the driver side.
What do I do? I dont know the customer....neither does the dealership. Im gonna talk with the employee tomorrow...and Im scared I might lay him out. My car is f'd...and I think he told the customer to do it. I dont want to go to jail...but this is unacceptable. It wont compound out. Any advice on what to do? Thaks in advance,
Chris

Kind of a coincidence that happened after you spoke to this guy, huh? If he parked there again, I would give him a nice molotov cocktail if the police couldn't find any prints on your ride. Sorry this happened, that sucks.

Call the Police and file a report and then call your insurance company. But I'm sure you already did that. Your covered under your comprehensive coverage. I hope your claims agent told you that.

quickv6, keep your head!, find out what car the employee has and key his car worse and flaten a tire, if he says something to you, act surprised, " what  someone key'd my car also, no way:eek: dam we gotta catch that s.o.b., don't go up to him nothing good wil come out of it, you'll most likely shake your head, , yeah whatever and deck the guy:mad: , you don't need assult charges added to this bad situation, revenge is a dish best served cold. i know someone will say this is childish and what not, but that's exactly what i did, to some a-hole who once key'd my car, and since there are no witness who's to say some stranger did it? take your time find out what car he drives and take action, it does'nt have to be the same day, wait a couple of days, catch him of his gaurd, payback, is so sweet;)
i hope you read this in time

Sorry

This reminds me of the time my 8 15s and the rest of my 6500 watt stereo went missing. Some poor dude should not have left his sunroof open on the new Lexus. You know a garden hose can turn it into a fish tank real quick. Poor guy after this none of his cars would ever run right, the injectors were always very well lubricated (From what I hear anyways). I hope this car lot doesn't become another one of those that was attacked by kids with a three man slingshot about four blocks away, frozen water on a hot summer night doesn't stick around long;) I would let this sit for awhile, perhaps the guy will return. In the mean time get plate numbers and VINs if you can, plenty of information can be found once you have a VIN: carfax comes to mind. Oh crap now you've got me thinking about what I would do if this happened to my Buick:mad:

Yea what GNX Guy said

That might be a safer place to start. You should try to get the VIN and plate #s, the police could use them if needed.

thanks guys

Thanks for the replies. I feel a lot...no...a lil' better. Im still pissed. I mean, I know theres way more to worry about in the world...but... messin with my car is just over the line. GNX guy...when you said comprehensive insurance will cover it, what exactly do you mean? I know that I only have liability...(pretty much the bare minimum), so I really doubt insurance can do anything at all. Im still thinkin about what to do. Im98 percent sure it was the customer who did it....but all I know is he had a grey maxima. But, I am also 99 percent sure the employee told the customer that the regal was mine. So i'd really like to lay out both guys. If i just f up the employees car....itll come back to my car again too. But I might feel better. I dunno. Man, this sux. Anybody know a good body shop in NYC area?

If insurance doesn't cover it, suck it up and go about your business. You have NO WAY to prove who did it and you'd feel might stupid getting caught keying someone's car or going to jail on an assault charge over this.

It sucks but you're gonna have to let this one go. Park the T somewhere else.

Keying a car is so juvenile. It's proof the offender has nothing in his life but desperation and weakness. If he was mad at you he could have confronted you like a man. Instead he copped out and acted like a scared little boy behind your back. The best you can hope for is to be civil and talk to whomever runs the dealership. Explain the situation and time frames. They will likely be able to figure out who it was that was there. The dealership has cars too and they'd probably rather not have them vandalized either. They may not give up the customer's name to you but certainly they will talk to their employee. Take this one to the top person but never lose your cool or they'll boot you out.

Some options:

1) You move to a better area of town.

2) Ask your city officals to make parking on your street resident permit only. That way you can call the police to have any non permit cars towed.

3) Rent a garage for you car nearby.

I 100% agree!!!

The last thing the dealership is going to want to do is put their property in jeapordy. They have alot to lose and just trying to protect it will cost them more money than this will cost you. Go talk to the person in charge and explain the story, tell them what happened and tell them the police are involved (which they should be). If the police are able to determine that it was either the costumer or employee or even the employee giving information to the customer that got your car vandalized then you will be able to take it to court and hold the dealership responsible. It will certainly get their attention if nothing else.

went to dealership

Guys...I spoke with a few guys in at the dealership......they said the customer was asking some questions about me....like which house was mine....etc. Apparently they told him...and they probably told him what car was mine too. So im pissed. But....it good graces..the dealership is sending me to the body guy they use for him to check out the car. It appears that the dealership is gonna pick up the bill. They said that they want to maintain good relations with the neighbors. I think this is pretty cool, but it still doesnt take away my anger from the guy who did this. You guys are right. He is a coward. Thanks for all the feedback...it was a big help.

..

next time someone pisses you off and you know what car they have...go down to the auto parts store and pick up a bottle of DOT4 brake fluid...put it on their roof/hood whatever; stab holes in it and wreak havok on their paint...but you can say something to them and then do it when theyre gone...play it kool....pay no attention to what he did, and when hes gone ....do the deed and he wont know who couldve done it.

Getting back to your keyed body parts.

Get some touch-up paint. Clean the keyed areas with Prep-sol or other wax/de-greaser. Lay approximately 3-5 layers of touch-up paint in the keyed area. After the paint has dried, use some 2000 grit wet sandpaper and knock down the touched up areas. Be careful that you don't rub the paint to deep.

Basically you filling in the keyed area with paint and smoothing out the area.

Someone keyed my truck long time ago and it went the whole length and I fixed it this way. Only you will know what area was keyed. Ask a friend to find the keyed area and he/she won't be able to find it.

Yeah, or you've gotta abhor their stupidity for giving him the info. What did they think he was gonna do with that info? Gonna write you a frickin card? Overall though I will say it is downright nice of them to take responsibility for their actions, considering they could be asshats and say screw you. Far as the bitch slap goes, on my penalty list a keying merits a full out ball breaking.

Body shop

I went to the body shop that the dealership sent me to....and they said the same thing that billy T said. (thanks billy). I got touch up...and im gonna put multiple layers on, and the body shop will do what they can to wet sand and blend the area in. If it doent come out good....it looks like the whole quarter will be painted. BTW....i wish anyone luck who is looking for touch up for the dark metallic blue color. Duplicolor doesnt make it...and you cant get the GM anymore. (I went to 3 dealers). The only thing i could get was Plasti-kote spray. But the color does match perfectly. Thanks for all your help in a sh*tty situation.
