Need advice on a body switch

Found a T-top GN. It has rust in the T-top area and also the floor. I have a good body and could do a body switch. What does that do to the value of the car. Is that even legal because of the VIN? The body I have is a Regal body. Thanks for any advice.

Would be illegal. Frame stamping would show a different vin an all. Legally you can cut out sections that are good as long as you brace them so as to not get them disformed when cutting and weld them into place on the rusty body. That would be the correct way.

Legally you can cut the section of firewall with the vin on it and replace the rest of the body under it . You cannot tamper with the rivets on the vin though.

Talked to Gbody today. Looks like there is a ray of hope. Rafs I read your thread. Gbody is going to have even more new replacement parts coming soon too!!!

Saving 1 T-top GN at a time
Test fit of new A-pillars this weekend hopefully if time permits. Next month is the rear t-top roof skin.
I have to test fit the new Turbo hood first.

I asked a similar questions a while back and most will tell you its highly illegal. From the research I did at the time and looking through Florida statutes on the net it seems like it can be done and would be considered a repair or restoration unless any part your dealing with was stolen. I wish I could have found rust free Regal body for a good price at the time and would have probably done it but instead I ended up fixing the rust and used it as an excuse to learn how to weld and do paint and body work. If you can find new parts or have a donor car for metal its actually a good learning ecperience if your the do it yourself type.

Another option would be to use the Regal body and frame and swap all the turbo parts over to that car.
