Need to do a paper on an emerging technology. I got stuck doing it on vehicle tuning b/c I mentioned i had interest in it. I honestly do not think it is a good topic to do my paper on b/c i don't think there is that much info out there on it. Can anyone help me out with any new technology that is out or is in development that can relate in any way to vehicle tuniing/diagnosing?
thanks in advance, Steve

Find out as much as you can about the fast system and the older dfi and even the chip burners people are using. maybe post your ?in the ecm upgrade forum here.

Look up "model based controls" in reference to internal combustion engines.

That's what we're working on ... pretty cool stuff! It's like running an engine in software...

Vehicle tuning has gotten amazing over the years....in the 60's/70's everything was mechanical, now everything is computer controlled. You can plug in a Diagnostic computer and read each plug wire or injector as it is firing with the simple use of the right tool, and a connector cable.

In the 70's it took a good ear to figure out what was wrong.....now you are bascily told what is wrong.

Look at your 84 GN for example....If it throws a 'code' you pull the code (with your Super Custom high dollar paper clip), and go to that direct part of the car that the code says is creating a malfunction....Imagine how hard it would be to track down what was wrong with out the code?!

i know it has come a LONG way...that much is obvious. But i need to concentrate on an EMERGING TECHNOLOGY, one that is basically not mainstream yet but is gaining in popularity.

a few examples that just got here are:
TV on Demand
NetBanking
Hybrid cars
etc, etc

anyone have any info on using multiple ECM's or fiber connections in cars?

ken, thanks for this info. I looked into it and am going to use this as the basis of my paper with a small focus on a few other things.

if you could provide me with any info you have that would be great.
