I have a BRF transmission with it's BR governor, and a KC valve body.

PTC 9.5" converter.

My WOT 1-2 shift is ~6350RPM and my 2-3 shift is ~5950RPM. I would like to reel in the 1-2 shift closer to the 2-3. Preferably 300-400RPM.

Is there anything I can do to the governor to achieve this goal? Is it true that the larger weight controls primarily the 1-2 and that the smaller weight controls primarily the 2-3?

If someone can provide a custom built governor that might help achieve this goal please let me know!

thanks in advance...

I would be looking at the vb, more specifically the 1-2 valve and spring in the vb. A slightly lighter spring should have it shift earlier. Where to source One, your guess is as good as mine. How much will it change, only trying different springs will reveal that. I've been to several of the smaller local type hardware stores and they each had springs to try. You will get good at catching and reusing trans fluid unless you have deep pockets and put new in each time.

My personal experience trying to soften 1-2 were less than stellar with softer shift valves it had more of an influence on part throttle shifts than WOT.

perhaps raise the 2-3 with the shift valve from another valve body (Monte CarSlo, or something like that), then use the Governor to lower them all back to where you want them.

You could try a weaker TV limit spring that's how I got my shift points closer together I did have to use a lighter governor to get things just right. There is a roll pin holding the spring in its a large one that one of the valve body bolts slide thru. You can leave it out and use the bolt to hold the spring in place that way you can make future changes without dropping the valve body.

Thanks gents! That transgo sheet is really interesting. Making me wonder if I should switch back to my BRF valve body and try changing that TV limit spring to raise the shifts up

Could 1 install a weaker than desired spring, leave the pin out, then "sneak up" on the desired shift point by adding shims?
Just a guess.
I don't do transmissions, and my trans guy doesn't do injectors.

I'm no tranny guy either the builder on my transmission installed a heavier spring and I had a 500 rpm spread I went back to stock with my BRF.

Just talked with my trans guy (Jimmy). Looks like I will be heading this way too. Back to a BRF.
