My Buick just has way too much rust for me to contend with and after giving it much thought I finally decided that I am going to swap my 87 T's power train into a Monte Carlo (preferably a '78 or '79) from some where below the rust belt (I'm up in Boston).

Now I don't expect any one to go looking for a Monte for me (although all help is appreciated (o: ) but what I do need help with is finding the name of local 'classified' publications in eastern states (WV, VA, NC, SC, TN, GA, etc..) where people sell their cars, TVs, furniture, boats, etc. (up here we have one that comes out weekly called "The Want-ADvertiser").

My plan is to subscribe to these publications in an effort to find a relatively cheap 78-79 rust free Monte with a straight body (I don't care about power train, paint, suspension or interior). When I see something I like I'll take a trip down to make sure it'll work for this project and then I'll figure out transportation some how.

So, if any members out there from south eastern states could forward me the names and any contact info you might have for such publications I would be very grateful..... and if you know of a Monte for sale that would be a bonus!

Thanks in advance!!
Ian

why not look for a buick where you can just swap everything over? I am sure there probably are some rolling chassis floating around....Check out the cars for sale section....

Thanks for the responses so far. I hope to find something soon.

The reason i don't want to find another buick for the swap is that i live in the city and i am sort of looking forward to being able to drive a car that is not as much of a car theif magnet.

I AM planning to part out my 87 T. The items i will be keeping are the powertrain, harness/ECU, swaybars and steering box.

I'll need to put together a list, but so far the items I know some people will be interested in are the hood, emblems, Turbo rims, astro roof and all the interior pieces including the front and rear seats

I'll be posting to both Turbobuick.com and GNTtype.org once I begin stripping parts off of her. I have researched the prices other people are selling parts for and I plan to base my prices around those if not slightly lower for a quicker sale. I just want to make some of my money back (I bought her for $3,500 with 130k a couple years ago thinking I could restore the body & frame)

If there is anything in particular you are interested in you can email me: igd87@hotmail.com

Check this out from the local paper

86 Olds Cutlass, black, T-tops, console, buckets, $400. (516) 225-8491

Sounds like a good deal - if you had to stay over I could help you out we have a guest room in my house
