I have put it this post in the supercharged tech but it doesn't seem like many people visit that area, so I thought I would post it in here since I need an answer ASAP.

I recently picked up a supercharger off a regal. Now what I wanted to do was buy a regular regal and drop on the supercharger. :D Now is that possible to do or are the internals of the regular 3800 to the factory supercharged 3800 different? If I drop on the supercharger on a regular 3800 regal will I blow out the internals. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Brandon

Not sure about the rest of the internals difference from a regular regal to the supercharged 3800, but I would gaurantee the supercharged version has lower compression pistons and a better fuel system. I would think you could get into problems just swapping a supercharger on a stock N/A 3800, but this is just MHO, Drew

Yes the internals are different. The pistons and rods are different between the L67 supercharged and the L36 NA motors. The heads are also different since the supercharger takes up all the room on the intake manifold so the injectors are in intake ports in the heads themselves. The intake manifold also way different obviously and there is an extra accessory drive belt drive setup for the supercharger that requires a different crank pulley in addition to a different balancer.

How much is a supercharger worth that has 60,000 miles on it, my guess is it's best for me to sell that and just buy a supercharged regal corret?

Brandon

correct, probably about $100-150 best guess, not a market I'm really familure with. Try looking on www.car-part.com and see what one out of a junkyard is. If you want a supercharged Regal, I got one I might sell.

PS, yes I know that 'I got' is bad English but I'm from TX, its culture.

Thanks,

Approximately how much would you want for it if you did sell it, and if you did is it stock or has their been upgrades?

Brandon:)

Bone stock 97.5 Regal GS, the only upgrades are a K&N panel filter (hardly counts), and I just got the tranny rebuilt by the local shop, did a great job on it, still has about 11k miles left on the warranty. I'd probably be looking for about $6k for it right now, maybe less after the warranty runs out.

I was gonna be basically ready to buy near the end of summer, is when i will have a lot of my bills paid off, do you think you will still have it then?

Brandon

One just sold on ebay for under $300, complete with wiring harness and everything, I am really kicking my self for not bidding on it now. Its nice to have a spare engine lying around :D
I picked up my GTP grand prix for under 3k. needed minior bodywork(dent in the fender) keep your eyes open and im sure you can find something cheap enough.
Good luck,
Mike

Hi,
Any salvage website, or ebay. Lots out there. The blower itself will fit on a bunch of applications, buick all. Eaton is really geared up to provide the manufacturers with exactly what they need, hence many combinations. Cool, hotrods forever!
