Howdy. I've had my motor/trans out ('86 TR, 125k) for about six months. Did some rebuilds on the car, including new valve springs and timing chain. Did not touch oil pump or pickup. What procedure should I follow to startup the motor now? Do I need to prime the oil pump, and if so, how? Or can I just start her up by disconnecting the ECM wire and turning her over until I get oil pressure? Tell me the RIGHT way to do it as I don't want to hurt anything.

Cheers...

Pull the plugs and spray some lubricant in each cylinder and turn the motor over slowly by hand, since the cylinder walls are all bone dry by now

Put clean gas in before starting, change fuel filter

You need a drill attachment that will allow you to turn the oil pump gear. Most of the big vendors on this site sell them
