The Service engine light stays on and I read that is normal with a aftermarket chip. Car has 57,000 on it. Has what i heard are some rare options. Has the astro roof & digital dash. ( U52, CF5 ) Haven't check yet because of weather to see if the chip is a red armstrong, but I'm guessing it is. Plan on just cruising it this year and want to hear any suggestions?? Also put pics in profile album. Thanks in advance.
Also have all original parts that came with car. Also have a laptop and wondered what I should get to tune using it.?? Sorry for the long post.

A check engine light is not normal for any chip. Get a paper clip and pull the code so you can investigate.

Where are you at in MI?

No, it is not normal.

Check the scanmaster for the trouble code, its the number that will display when you select the MAL mode (click the left button until you see MAL on the left side of the display)

Post the trouble code(s).

Welcome to the group.

Livonia Area.. also read on Eric's site about the Service engine light coming on after chip install.??

The light is to come on but not to stay on and he can set your chip up to have the ses light to be a shift light as well.

If your not sure about how to perform any of the work on your car or looking for a good GN mechanic get in touch with Bruce at aggressive auto in Roseville MI. He knows his stuff, I'm taking him mines in a month or so when the weather starts to break.

Only true many, many years ago in the early days of GN chips when folks coudn't get the checksum right when burning a chip.

Here is what I get with scanmaster 2nd numbers are after 10 mins. of idle time... thanks in advance.

BAT-- 14.1
INT-- 128
BL--- 121 THEN 115
CLE-- 64 THEN 112
ATS-- 38 THEN 40
R----- 1200 THEN 925
EPS---.38
IAC-- 102 THEN 64
CC--- 245
MAL-- 45
898-- 0.0
AF-- 12 THEN 10
LB--- 65 THEN 55

I KNOW MAL IS RICH O2 SENSOR, BUT IT JUST GOT REPLACED?

there are a couple different kinds of 43lb injectors. and the chip needs to match.

look at your injectors and chip and let us know the details.

also, what is your fuel pressure?

Your parts list says "new MAF", there are lots of crappy MAFs out there, which can cause this kind of problem.

Bob

Fuel pressure is 42 at idle.. will get back with injectors & chip, but owner said they were matched.

Checked the injectors, they are 42.5 # 009's.. Part # 621031 as far as the MAF, have a receipt from NAPA says "MAF Sensor #57851 (ADV), just going to have to pull the chip to see what it is, starting to think it's a chip problem. Have receipt for injectors and chip, but receipt says "chip to match injectors" so I'll get back once I find out what it is.

let us know on the injectors.

Aftermarket / remanufactured MAFs have a pretty crappy reputation.

There is a vacuum hose on the fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pressure should rise 7 psi when the hose is pulled off, when the engine is idling. Tell us the fuel pressure with the hose on and off.

With the car warmed up, idling in drive, post the following items from the Scanmaster (by warm, I mean drive it around for 30 minutes, pull back into the driveway, and idle in DRIVE for a minute or so)

AF
L8
Bat
INT
BLM

thanks

Bob

On the scanmaster, are the CCs moving steadily from 0 to 255 and then over again or is it slow moving. The O2 could be damaged by leaded fuel. The temp in your list is too cold. Relist them with the temp at +160. IAC is high but that might be b/c of the temp.

Will do, weather permitting. Bob I posted the injector & Maf info in the post above yours?? What other info do you need?.. Thanks to all who replied.
