new best 9.68, 70gtq works!

I would not mess with nothing. Rich is in the top 10 109 TSM cars. If you actually dropped some weight to 3550 with driver you would be in the top 5. Rich still has not maxed out that turbo or setup either. That car could have probably went 9.50's that day if he didn't get the boot. There is still room in his sixty foot aswell. Max out everything before trying to revamp. People are still stratching their heads trying to figure it out. If I wasn't a local I would be holding up the B.S flag. Unbelievably impressive. Don't d i c k with a good thing. If you do another motor, build it the same way with forged internals and Bob's your uncle.

Mike, i think your a little confused as to what a TSM class car is, unless TSM now allows 4 bolt turbos and no safety equipment.
Not to take away from Rich, just making a valid point.

:) I find it very easy to believe Bird and one reason "is" his setup I.E. a lot lighter rotating assembly due to the 6+ lb. lighter OEM cast crank, lighter stock damper, lighter oem flex plate and of course the boost. What's so hard to believe.

PS: How many in that 24 run a OEM computer?

mike, the 4 bolt i use is an "on center" not a "tangenial". the on center has an extra bend, kind of an "s" shape and a rather large casting bump right @ the opening that i clean up as best i can with the grinder. after talking to several turbo builders they all agreed it doesnt flow any better than the current 3 bolts available. chopper at limited said it actually flows less. thats why not to many guys run these housings. they are intended for cars with limited mounting space (ie twin turbo set-ups). none the less you are right technically it isnt tsm legal but i am pretty confident the car would run the same if it had a precision 3 bolt instead. i think wbrophy is right on the rotating mass part. i also think safety equipment or not the car still weighs 3600lbs. if i added the safety stuff i would be removing the a/c etc... and replacing the bumpers with glass ones to even out the weight. remember i am running 30psi. im sure alot of guys would be right thier if they turned it up as well. its nice just to be in the same ballpark as the guys mike r listed above. i am honored. :)

Not confused here Mike. I did not say TSM legal, I said top 10 TSM 109 cars. Alot of those cars in that list were not TSM legal with the numbers posted, but all run 70/ 71 GTQ turbos on a 109 block. I have the same exhaust housing as Rich does. The 3 bolt definately flows more air then our restricted housing with that stupid S bend in it that tappers down to width of 2 fingers on the bend. Fact remains that Rich is driving a heavier car then 96% of the guys on that list. That list came from T6p.com board in the TSM section of cars that put the 109 block on the map.

Ok, i guess i am confused......i did not know all cars with a 70 turbo and 109 block regardless of anything else were "TSM cars", sorry about that.......

You know what I mean Mike. Aside from the safety stuff which does not make the car any faster because he is heavier then he should be, and a 3 bolt exhaust housing which he would more then likely pick up from.
All of which would not make his car any slower, my fault I should have said that. But technically speaking your 110% correct.

What do I have to do to get on that list? Is there a secret handshake that I need to learn? Also, who is Tony O. at the top? Is that a new time?

Oh snap, how could I forget another white T-type getting it done. Sorry Scott. No secret handshake required, i just had a brain fart thats all. Tony O was a ANS built 109 TSM car that ran those numbers a couple of years ago in TSM trim but could not back it up due to spliting the block in half. I started a thread on the other board to see how many 9 sec 109 TSM and not TSM legal cars there were out there. Seems like 10's was yesterdays news with these 109 blocks. Lots of fast 109 setups out there.

 Just took a quick look at list and # 2 and 3 should be changed around due to mph.
Edit: went down list just a little more and 6 and 7 should be changed too and this is it for me.

can someone go thru the list and put the exact turbo and injectors next to the cars that are on the list?

Lots of fast cars there, 8s:eek:

BW

:) Wow that list is growing.

a/f was a little lean @high 11's/low 12"s in 1st and 2nd gear. most of the run it was in the low 11's.

Bump for a cool thread that some of the newer members may not have seen. Keep in mind he did this 11 years ago:)

I've met Bird at the track a couple of times and all I can say is he's super nice guy and very helpful.

My car is far from his, but you'd never know it by speaking to him. Very humble guy.
