hey just pulled my old converter .i was told it was a restalled d5 but it was what looked like a 10 inch converter that had a pats sticker on it.when we unbolted the converter from the flywheel and spun it still in the tranny it made a weird sound at one spot in the rotation.when we pulled it the splines on the pump stator was worn badly so i put a harded stator in it.installed my new redneck racing converter and the car feels so much better.i havent verified the actual stall speed but i can now foot brake 4 pounds on my radial tires with worn out brakes.this converter was 275 bucks and seems to work great.i dont know if i should send the pats back or would anyone be interested in it.im sure they will rebuild it for around a hundred or so.thats the local price anyway to freshin one up or have the stall changed.does anyone think this converter caused the problem?what can tear up in a converter?

The clicking sound is common when installing a converter etc.

What turbo are you running to get the 4psi on??

Rednecks are making a splash in the GM world and are turning out to be pretty good. Keep us informed on advertised stall vs. actual stall.

As far as the Pats, it is probably fine and you can just resell it. The reason for the chewed up teeth on the stator is plain ol beating on it. They can only take so much power so getting the hardened one was a good choice.

For $275 you aren't going to find many converters to fit that bill, but performance is key so fill us in.

the turbo is the cpt 66.im gonna get my powerlogger on there and see what the stall speed is tonight .i know the car is running better because its got a lot better mile per hour in the same distance with nothing elsed changed.oh i also changed my pump to a 10 vane instead of a 7 vane to get a little more fluid volume.

hey i just tried it out it stalled 2900 rpm at 4 pounds foot braking it.then i brought the boost up a little got the rpm close and bliped the throttle and got 3400 flash before the tires broke lose .with slicks and good brake this thing is right on . i order a 3400 stall :D .im gonna try to get some logs on my mph when i get me some more alky.i tried to put the logger file on here but it says invalide file.so i dont know how to change the file type:confused:
