Just had the dash in my 87 GN replaced with the GNX style dash and was extremely impressed with the fit and looks. It is as if the car was made to have this dash. I can look directly in front of me and not have to look at pillar and console gauges (which was very disconcerting). Anyway a beautiful product and wanted to thank Tom Houser again for a great product. Rich

I was thinking about one of those. Who did you get the product from (Company name), how difficult was the install, what do you do about your odometer (start over ?)...
Thanks,

Just to throw in my 2 cents. Over the winter I took on the project of making my own dash. Not saying mine is better or worse just throwing out another option to you. Thanks

Gage Panel

jdodman. I purchased the 8 gauge panel. The company name is Performance Instruments. They have a website. It is http://www.gnxdash.com/. Since I purchased the dash that was used in the Owners car, it had a little over 5k miles on it. My GN had a little over 26K miles on it. I have the original dash pod and other documentation to verify mileage. You can, however have the speedo set for the mileage you presently have. Tom did the install while I waited and it looked very easy. It could have been done in less than two hours, except for our BS sessions which took the time over three hours. The reason he sold me his was that he upgraded to the new 9 gauge panel. Hope this answers your questions. Rich

Thanks,

I got mine from gnxdash.com as well! The installation was very easy. It took me 3 hours and I never had one of these dashes apart before! The hardest part was changing the oil pressure sender. Just a real M'er-F'er to get at!

I think Tom Houser spent as much time on the instructions as he did on the design of the unit! Everything you need to know is right there in black and white. I wish my BstC came with instructions half as good:rolleyes: Hint...cough....Hint....Ramchargers..

Anyway, I think Tom can calibrate the new speedo to match your actual mileage. Tom is first class all the way! You won't be disappointed. ;)

I wish I had pics of mine.I got it installed, did a quick testdrive and had to put my car up for winter storage.Didn't even have time to get pics. It's a custom job from Tom H. which he wouldn't care to do ever again. But he did an outstanding job.I'll try to get pics soon but it's dark in the storage facility so I don't know if I can get any good pics.Spring isn't getting here soon enough.:(

Spring?

I think my car has four of them!!!!!! Are you kidding me! The worst winter down here for as long as I can remember. Maybe it's because I have a car that I actually like, I don't know. The ocean water temperature is about 1 degree colder than normal so instead of all these storms being rain they have been snow. It's terrible as we still have about a foot of snow on the ground. GNX dash, oh yeah, I forgot. Cakes, nice job. What kind of doe did that run you? Why the four guages instead of the six? GNX dash sells an eight guage panel right? Drew

GNXdash.com makes a 6 gauge an 8 gauge and a 9 guage panel.

I paid a visit to the site and yes there are six, eight or nine guage clusters available. These panels are not inexpensive but very nice none the less. Another one of those areas that we wish GM had spent some more time with to make these GN's that much more special. Of course many of us know that this area was addressed with the GNX but the GN was worthy of this type of instumentation as well I think. Those folks building GNX type dashes , my congratulations. These dashes are well thought out and attractive/functional. The GNX type dash is an upgrade that , in a long line of positive upgrades, can increase the value of our cars. In my case I have to decide on this type of upgrade or a cosmetic upgrade such as GNX style wheels. Both of these around $1,000. Both of these changes I can live without but, Yeah, they sure are sweet!!!! Drew:)

GNX Dash

Finally got my car out of storage and got a picture of my GNX dash which I installed the day I put my car away for winter.

I bought a OEM GNX gauge mounting plate, bezel and dash applique and Tom mounted the gauges, and built my harness for me,and fabbed up an idiot light holder. His normal build his idiot lights are on the right side, with a real GNX dash the idiot light setup is on the left. His bezel has a big clear lens. Mine is molded black plastic and has holes about 2" deep that surround the gauges giving them the sunk in look.
