Ok, I know this is a 'Buick/GM' site BUT most of us have owned other brands including Mopars. That said, is anyone considering the 'all new' 2008 Dodge Challenger?? As a former Challenger owner I am!! The SRT version will be at least 425HP and this same engine in a HEAVY 300C runs low 13's so whats the Challenger going to run?? High 12's out of the box? Just wondering......

Ken B.

Oh........My Buicks are staying!!!:p

That's on my list to look at, along with the Pontiac G8.

Unfortunatley... I doubt I'll be able to afford any of them with the way things are going here:frown: If only they were released last year:mad:

We'll see.

A real Challenger!

The new ones will look almost like this!

I'd buy one if it looked like this.

Yea, from what I've read they are supposed to be based off of the 1970 model. If only the 1970 Challenger T/A in my garage was finished being restored... :(

i will definetly go test drive one when it does come out , always have love'd the way the car looks .

I'm going to go look at them when they come out. I will be in the market IF the starter doesent sound like the 70ish:p chrysler stuff...

I think after about 35 years that got that problem solved. LOL although they may have spent a lot of $ just to duplicate it the same way they did with the road runner horn.

I thought there would be some memories about that starter whine they had. Great friend of mine had a volarie (sp?) with a wicked 360 in it and I used to give him such hell about needing to "shim the starter"!! Lots of good memories. Jon Hanson

The new Challenger looks and is going to perform absolutely Nice!!!

However, the only problem with it, is just that. It's just TOO NEW!!! Which ultimately, in my opinion it loses it's Character.

New = No fun. Sometimes that is, at least for me.
I had the GN out today again, and I can even stare at this car without driving it. It's simply awesome. The lines and design of this car and it's history, make it absolutely Awesome, and I love just even detailing it and waxing it.

Anyways, that's my opinion. I love the Challenger and surely would love to hear and drive one. But for the money you're going to pay for it, and pay the bank to finance it, I'm sure you're gonna love it.

My GN's paid for, and love to drive, wax, and look at it.

Pics of the real deal at a show. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

I would love to own one, but probably will come with a high ADM at the start.

The negative will be the weight. It will be a bloated beast, something like 4300# from what I remember.

It definitely looks cool, and that purple challenger was gorgeous.

At 4300lbs 425hp is not going to go as far as you would think these days.

Rumor has it that there should be an SRT8 version traveling in my group on the 08 power tour in June. I may see if he will swap rides for one portion. Probably going to be another neat car that is worth more than my house.

The old gear reduction starters rocked! The only problem was that they were heavy, and if for some reason it didn't fire, you had to wait for it to stop turning before reengaging it or it would grind. My old big block wagon would start with a rediculously low battery thanks to the gear reduction starter. Probably could have used a mower battery.

Why does Detroit insist on building "performance" cars that are enormous. That thing looks like the queen Mary. The new Camaro has the same problem. The new Mustang is huge too.

Out of all the new pony cars i think the challenger is the best looking. Im not a ford guy and the camaro looks to futuristic for my tastes. I heard rumers of a new 426 hemi for it, I think thats gonna be one of the best features of the car. If anyones intrested in possible engines you could look the car up on wikipedia.com thats where I found the 426 info.

Tons of safety features that were not needed back in the 70's. Also, people want all the creature comforts that were not thought of back then. Start adding up all the extra weight and you can see how easily these things get bloated.

My '70 Mach weighed less than 3300# with a heavy assed 428CJ in there.
