Anybody have one? I've been thinking about buying one. I know this is a stupid question.... Did GM improve the fuel economy with the new 6-speed trans? Any issues?

I have a 2003 so it ain't new but it does get horrible mileage. I would get an 8.1L next time. My 454 suburban gets better mileage.

A friend of mine had the older version like yours. I think he was getting like 10-11MPG with no trailer. I'd consider a diesel but I can buy alot of gas to cover that $8000 option. I'm basically just going to use it for towing my car trailer and boat.

Brandon i just picked up mine it has 280 miles on it and fuel economy he been improving ...yesterday it was 14.0.the new one has a 373 and my old one had a 410.it pulls the trailer like it is not their.you are welcome to drive it

Hey Bob! Glad to hear you got your new truck! Its good to know that GM has improved the fuel mileage on the 6.0L. The truck I was looking at had the 3.73 as well. I did test drive it and I was impressed. The truck drives awesome. I'm getting tired of my old Dodge. It has the typical wonder all over the road issue. The bad part is everything on the front end has been replaced and aligned twice. It really sucks pulling an enclosed trailer with a truck that is all over the road:eek: I'll have to stop by and check out your new truck.

If you are going to put any miles on it opt for the diesel. As an example I have a 2006 Dodge 2500 diesel that i paid an additional 6800 for over the "hemi". 130K miles later I have saved over 17K in fuel costs alone:eek:

If you are not going to be putting many miles on it go with the gas. I have heard the milage is better on the newer models. Good luck.

truck

I bought a 2500 hd crew cab 4 wheel drive with 6 liter 6 speed with 3.73 rear
last sept, it is a 2011, it gets 16 to 17 mpg on interstate running around 75 mph, pulling my 8000 lb inclosed trailer it gets 9.5 to 10.5
i sold my 2006 diesel, crew cab 4x4, only miss it when towing trailer,
t
he diesel got 18 to 19 mpg empty same speed,
it got 12 to 12.5 pulling same trailer,
good luck, oc,

I've only put about 35K on my truck in the last 6 years. Its my work horse. 10MPG with a trailer doesn't bother me too much. However I am use to the diesel. The 99 24V cummins gets about 20MPG without the trailer and 16MPG with the trailer. As long as it tows the load and doesn't wonder all over the place I'm good with lower fuel economy. I have a company car with a gas card. So I mainly drive that anyways. I'm just ready for a newer/new truck.

Brandon as you may know gm screwed my order up and voss made it right!! My truck listed at 40k with the gm employee discount was about 36k.they gave me 4k over apraised for mine which dropped the tax 500 and an additional 4400 in incintives.i drove it home for 27k even and its loaded but only 2 wheel drive that is what i wanted.i dealt with zak dyer

I actually made an offer on one they had. It listed for $44610. I offered $35k they didnt seem to intested in my offer. I can even get the GM discount plus the $3005 in rebates. The salesperson told me they are only offering an additional $1000 in discounts since its hail damaged. I thought that was a bunch of BS. They turned it into insurance and I know how that works. They are double dipping so to say. In a sence the dealer is actually able to profit from the loss. Which should NEVER be the case with insurance. I left my number with the salesman and told him to call me when he is ready to deal.
