Picked up an 87 GN that runs excellent for 7800$.

Motor is stock and rebuilt, stock turbo, stock injectors, and an aftermarket chip.

Im from the Greenville SC area but am an active duty Marine stationed up in NC. Ive had the car since earlier this year but figured id post some pics.

Im looking to do some upgrades here soon. Car has MAF translator and Terry Houston DP. Any good ideas for first power mods?

Welcome....it takes a brave man to sell a used GN to a Marine!

What are your goals with the car?

There a gobs of threads here on engine, trans, and suspension upgrades, it takes a while to absorb all the good (occasionally questionable) advise you will get from the search function.

Haha why is that ?

As for goals just some mods for occasional cruising , nothing too extreme. Plan on leaving the motor stock, but will be updating the converter, tranny, turbo, chip, and injectors. Just trying to find the perfect combo so i know where or how to spend the $$ the best.

I gave up on the search function from the app it usually brings up everything unrelated.

I just had the bumper fillers replaced, the roughed up paint spots fixed with some dings, and in the process of cleaning the interior up. I replaced all fluids, plug wires, and spark plugs about 2 months ago. The brake fluid looked like black ink it was dark, all good now though.

Same reason I don't sell used cars to good friends...and certainly wouldn't sell a GN to someone trained as well as a Marine :). They are finicky cars and can leave even the most patient person very frustrated.

Turbo, intercooler, and alcohol are very good ways to wake up the cars. There are so many turbo options its mind boggling.

There are many excellent vendors that will offer advice as well. A quick scan through the vendors websites will start giving you ideas...Full Throttle, TR Custom Parts and Kirban are a few of my favorites.

Haha i hear that , and i've already learned that. Fixing the well know flashing brake light was a 2 day job and a big pain in the ass, but i enjoyed every minute of it.

Will be doing the alky kit, turbo, TT chip, and injectors as soon as i figure out exactly what i need.

Ill be checking out all the vendor sites. Thanks for the information !

Appreciate that!! It was the best i could find for under 8k, it runs and looks damn good. I have found a couple local members in the area. Can't wait to get some upgrades for her.
