Wow you can get a fast GN forthe price of that junk trans...sign me up;)

Two fast Buicks, actually. It's pretty crappy of Nissan to do that, though. There should be an option to disable the VDC, in case you need it to rock out of mud or snow as the manual states, but certainly engine management software is smart enough these days to be able to tell the difference between a hard launch and rocking the car. They could have easily programmed it to prevent hard launches. But then they couldn't make their 0-60 in 3.4 claim.

When I disable the trac control in my Caddy it also disables first gear - starts out in 2nd. Problem solved.

One of the ugliest cars currently on the market!

I'd venture to say the Toyota MKIV Supra that was made over 10 years earlier is still a better car than the new Nissan GTR.

Two weeks ago, I was driving on the highway and a black GTR with 2 guys in it came up quickly behind me. They kept gunning their car, trying to get me to run with them, but there was traffic ahead of us. The traffic cleared and we both hit it from about a 45 mph roll. That is my car's "sweet spot" and it was no contest... I heard that great turbo roar and I pulled away from them. When we slowed, the guys pulled next to me and gave me a thumbs up. Then they stayed about 500 feet behind me until I turned of the road.

I didn't know what a GTR was, I thought at first it was a riced-up Supra... it is pretty ugly looking to be honest... especially when you see it shrinking in your rear view mirror :)

Thats schooling em.those cars have a ton tech in them dont underestimate them awd cars w/ mod can be very interesting.and you are correct they are real f....ing ugly.

If you want a badass AWD car you're better off with the EVO. They make a LOT of power with the little 4G63 4banger and considering you can buy one much cheaper than a new GTR you could probably easily have one in the 10's or 9's as there are a bunch of them running great numbers and plenty of aftermarket support from guys like Buschur and AMS.

It must have been stock then.

I loved my R32 when I lived in Japan/. Why oh WHy did they have to change what worked so well. Should have stuck with the manual trannys...tisk..tisk..tisk

Its not just the GTR, most new cars are equipted with a black box the dealer connects a laptop to and can see the history of the engine. It will show them if you abused the engine, what exactly the car was doing before an accident etc. So it will allow them to turn down your warrenty if you abuse the drivetrain. It is a tattletail. I would bet any new high performance car is so equipted and I would imagine you would be out of luck if you modify the engine in anyway like turning up boost. This is just the beginning, good reason to drive an old car.

Last Wednesday at NED there was a black one with some mods and stickers. It ran a 11.4 at 124. I was matched up with one in Sept. It ran a 11.9 at 118.
It as stock. There's a lot of impressive technology but its way too expensive and high maintainance. The sales guy at the local Nissan dealer was telling me you are supposed to change the oil to special "racing" oil before going out or you void the warrentee. A complete brake job was 7K, tune up $1000, etc...silly. $82k+dealer markup and no dealing. For less money you can get a new KR500 and still be that fast stock.

Maybe... but my car looks 100% stock from behind but is far from stock.:biggrin: Maybe they thought they came across a stock GN or Monte Carlo. After our encounter they probably took their GTR back for warranty repairs because how could a 11 sec. 85k rice burner lose to a Monte Carlo
