Good see another Buick guy getting in and taking care of us, VPE is gone so there is even more room.

How much with the ported intake??
How long did it take??

Get in touch with Russ on price.
He turned them around in a week.
He has another set on the flow bench
now that will be for sale shortly.

Those are stock steel heads ported and big valved by Russ.
Also does a killer 3 angle valve job on them.

Great looking heads Otto! Nice Job Russ!

VPE is still around just have to have the inside to get them done from him

I got VPE heads on my car they are the all out ported heads I believe the St 3. I did not really know much about them so are they suppost to be that good! Heres the flow sheet my engine guy was "surprised" on the results but said the heads looked good. Sorry for the hi jack its just the first time I have seen someone bring up VPE!

These weren't full effort port job but still worked on pretty extensively...... Good, reliable street/strip head. On OUR flow bench they out flowed both sets of Champion irons we've got notes on. Champion is the bench mark iron cylider head and as long as they're as good as those, then they can go.......

You sure on those VPE #s? I'd love flow those......;)

Russ,

We (KN Performance Porting & myself) tried to get someone to loan us a VPE head a couple years ago when we were testing cylinder heads and comparing all of them on the same bench with the same person running the bench. FWIW, I don't think you will see those #'s from their heads.

We're in the process of moving to a new location after the 1st of the year, and then we're going to accessorize our bench to do some wet testing... ;)

I hear ya. Every set of ported heads that come through here go on the bench for notes......

My GN1 R heads from 04, 1.90/1.60 valves, fully ported by Champion went 231cfm on our bench today.......

I ported my 8 bolt GN1s I had since 02 last week and got em to 240 without sleeving the bolt hole....

Just kinda cool to keep notes on what heads did what on the flow bench and what heads did what on the track.....We got a pretty good list going right now.

I have the VPE heads too!

after i max these heads out into the low 140mph range i will be looking to get a set of ported aluminums down the road

I looked up the flow sheet on my VPE heads and they flow at 229 @ .600, just as a comparison for any interested parties.......

I flowed the VPE heads that are on RUQWKNF27's car. I think they came in around 196 which was better than I expected from just looking at them. Compared to a Champion iron which went 206-210. I can tell that iron head from VPE will not pick up that kind of cfm from .500-.600. They are done at .500

Looks like a nice set of heads Otto! As it has been stated in the past when these topics come up, I think you have to take flow bench #'s with a grain of salt similar to dyno #'s because they can obviously vary from one flow bench to another. If anything I'd say it's a good way to baseline the performance of the heads, but the true test is when you get the car to the track. Seems like lately there are more than a few guys running some great #'s at the track with iron heads from several different head porters/vendors so that is great news for the guys that are on a budget and can't quite afford the aluminum heads!
