Hey Guys, I'm not familiar with the Ttypes or Grand Nationals,. But I am being offered a 1984 Ttype in a trade for my truck. It looks and drives like new and the 70 year old owner says he has proof that it actually has only 23,468 original miles. It's silver with a dark grey interior and in very good shape.
My question is... Is it worth at least the $6000 that I'm asking for my truck and could I get that much in todays market if not more, because I'm having no luck selling my truck.
Any advice would be appriciated, Thanks..

IMO- The 84 TTYPE is not worth $6000. A GN in A shape would be worth looking at. Good luck. Brad

Depends on condition. If it is truly a 23,00 mile car...and looks/drives like one, it would be close, IMO. I'd say $5-6000 isn't completely out of line for a low milage one. See if you can get some pics....or better yet, find a local TR guy to go look at it with you. Look up Charlief1 on this board...I think he's in Texas. Remember, that 84 t-type will be worth more in the future than most trucks... HTH ---Keith

C'mon Brad a classic car with a verified 20XXX thousand miles is worth every penny and more than 6k. especially if it's in excellent condition. You guys need to stop baseing value on personal opinion and look at actual car value listings.

So I guess then by the same standards that your car is only worth lets say 2 grand.......man your in the whole deep.

I am in the hole deep and my wallet is one hell of alot lighter. It is my opinion though but what the heck. I can never recover the investment in my car nor will I spend anymore trying to go faster. I just enjoy my car as it is and am very thankful for it. Thanks- Brad

This off topic but by all accounts you should already be there. I think through all of this you've learned what I have stated many of times on this board you can't spend your way around an improperly functioning system whether it be mechanical or electronic. But hopefully you got the bugs worked out so i see you in the 12's soon.

P.S. I'm sure your car's worth much more than 2k.

Pete

Pete- Well said and I agree. The bugs are now gone with my car just in time for winter. Brad

So it's not a grand national and not worthy??

Is it a transition into the grand national or just a buick regal with turbo ?

Not some classic ?? Still confussed.............. Everything about it says grand natinal, but the name...

This should help. A Grand National is nothing but a paint job and some emblems. It was a body option only for the Buick Regal TTYPE. All TTYPEs have the same engine and transmission. There is no such thing as a Grand National model. More people like the GN look than the regular TTYPE which is why they cost more even though they are mechanically the same. Good luck- Brad

Here is my advice, and $0.02 ;);
1-I am Houston if you need assistance.
2-If you are not interested in the car, let me know. I'd like to look at it.
3-If you are buying it to drive around, you will be good. If you purchase to modify, you may reduce reliability.
4-If you going to/want to add an intercooler, buy an 86-87car.

Is the car in Houston?

I think he wants to take the car as trade and turn around and sell it...
So, take the trade and sell the car to Jerryl...done deal... ;)

I told him to contact you Jerryl. I figured you'd give the best info as well as offer to go look at it for him.

Hook up with Jerryl. He will not steer you wrong.

So true Keith. Jerryl will be more than happy to help you and I'd take him up on the offer for sure.:biggrin:

LOL!
While that may be the strategy, I can only hope it works for him. ;)

I have NO problem with someone not accepting free advice, and will not lose any sleep over it. This is a good example why I still have the OTC scantool.
