Hello
my name is Shane and I am new here.I don't own a Turbo Buick.NOT YET anyway. But I am looking into getting one.A dealer down here in my hometown has a 87 T-Type with 79,000 original miles on it.He is asking $14,900 for it.Its in mint condition.BUT the car has been color changed.IT was silver but the one owner of the car had it painted blue with dark blue racing stripes.I have went and looked at the car and its very nice. But I am kinda nervous about paying almost 25 grand for a 20 year old car.I have owned an 84 and 87 buick back in the 80's and 90's and I loved both of them. But neither of them was Turbo.I have always wanted one ever since they came out.
So my question is should I be looking for certian things when looking at this car?And is that a good price?
You may have seen it on Ebay last week. Its located in Charlotte,NC.

If it was me I would expect plenty under the hood for that price. Take your time don't get in a rush, if you're gonna pay that kind of money you just as well better get something that you want.

Don't waste your money! That's too much for that car. Shop on our for sale boards and see what people are asking and what they are selling for the price. I think you can do better...

I second that for sure, way to much!!!! Look at the for sale part on this site first. Then if you don't see something you like keep looking. I know you can do better than that!! Mine wasn't near that and had a TON of upgrades on it already. Daniel Ray

Welcome Pilgrim!

You've come to the right place for advice, especially if you want to get your money's worth. There are more than a few knowledgeable guys on these boards always willing to help share their knowledge w/us. Take your time and read up on the problems some of us have w/ our own vehicles,(mostly self-inflicted wounds! ) and it will help you get aquainted w/this addiction!
I 3rd the suggestion, that you check the "cars for sale" areas on the boards. The prices are by far more realistic and in fact some great deals. Just don't rush into it! Again welcome! :)

Yeah, they want WAY to much for that car. What part of NC are you from?
I am in Greenville and know where they are 5 cars for sale around here! If you want a TR in NC I am the man to see

If you want to check out these cars more closely T6P.com is having a track rental at Rockingham on Oct. 8th! If my figures are right we should have close to 20 TR's racing and MANY more TR's there but not racing! I will have 3 of my fleet there :D

Check here for more details!

Welcome!

That price seems way to high!

Go here as you get a feel of the market. Look at that site and become familiar with it.

You should find a good 80k Turbo Buick for $8-12,000 that would look good and run well.

I'm a SXT Magnum owner too....Great car! :)

 He is asking $14,900 for it.Its in mint condition.
Then you say "I am kinda nervous about paying almost 25 grand for a 20 year old car".

Now I am confused

IMO Asking $14,900 for an original 79,000 miles car (depending on condition, of course) isn't out of line.
The racing stripes don't appeal to me either. Did they do all the door jams, under hood and trunk lid when the color was changed to blue?

I'm sorry,I didn't catch that. But its not 25 grand,Its only 14.And like you I am not into the racing stripes either. But on a good note. The car painted right(jams, under hood and the trunk). If I was to get then i would leave it as it is a few months then have it color changed to black painting bumpers and all.
