Got a new best time for my car. 12.82 @ 102

009's, 340+hotwire, intake, exhaust, 100 chip with 4 gallons of 104 and a little 93, gutted cat.

20 pounds of boost, 1.83 60' No airbags, snubber. 17 year old bushings. 275 Nitto. Full weight minus spare and jack. Stock turbo, intercooler, no dutt neck, unported stock downpipe.

I think I'm starting to get the hang of tuning it. I think I'm just about done with the stock turbo. I don't want to run 116.

What do you guys think?

Nah, it felt like every other run. Was very happy when I go to the timeslip booth though.

When's that imp going to be able to see the taillights? :D

Congrats on the 12 sec run. I think you've got a great tune for your combo.

I'm running a somewhat similar combo with my T except 30# injectors, dutt neck, 3"Postons downpipe with stock elbow, and a high stall convertor. Also a ported stock turbo but I don't know if it makes much difference or not. Also a 100 octane chip with a few gallons of race gas thrown in to be safe. My best run on Nittos was a 12.59@106.5 also with a 1.83 60'. On ET Streets I ran 12.41@105 with a 1.70 60', but that was my first time out with ET Streets and next time should be 1.6's at 12.2 I hope. Both runs were at almost 21 lbs boost. On a cool day in the fall with 22 lbs boost and a great launch I think it has an 11.9 sec run in it.

Upgrade the rest of the stuff like downpipe, dutt neck or bigger intercooler, tires (slicks), and with the stock turbo and you can knock off 0.5 sec once you've got it dialed in. Then you'll easily be in the 11's if you upgrade the turbo. If you upgrade the turbo first you won't be able to maximize it until you upgrade all the other stuff.

Once again, good times for stock turbo/intercooler/downpipe.

Thanks. I've been doing easy cheap mods lately because of lack of work, but since thursday I've been working. So now I can afford some real mods. Let's see how fast I can go w/o a turbo swap.:)

Whenever the hell "only231" gives me my damn valve covers back  I dont think I'l have enough time to get booted from every local track this year :D oh well there's always next year...........

My T went 12.0's @ 109 with stock turbo, stock I/C, stock injectors, so there's room for improvement.

Why the reluctance to use C16? I don't mess with fuel. I don't ever want to stage a car and wonder if I'm going to burn a hole in a piston because I don't have enough octane. Race gas is way cheap compared to the possible consequences of not having it.

What kind of tires did you use to run the 12.0 ?

Im having all kinds of traction problems.

Did you have a dutt neck on your intercooler, and did you have airbags in the rear ?

30 X 9 Goodyears w/4.10 gears (i.e. NHRA Stock Eliminator set-up)
Ice box intercooler, no neck mod.
2 bags.

OLD SCHOOL!!!

102 is pretty low mph. The stock turbo is good for 110+ with a locked converter and a good tune.

There's lots of room to go faster.

I went 12.20's@110.5 on a crappy track with BFGDR's with the only real mods being a dumping THDP, K&N and adjustable FPR using a T108 Chip and about 20 psi of boost. 60 ft times were lousy 1.80's.

Ditto......

My car went 12.30's@110-111mph with a T108 and alky.

Don't give up on the stock turbo/IC until you get low 12's. Learn how to drive and tune it. See sig..
