Looking for opinions.... I have always tuned with my snap on mt2500
What's out there these days? Looking for somthing that will take
Longer snapshots (logs). And that updates a little faster not sure
If its my scanner that updates slow or the baud rate of the ecm is
Low. Open for suggestions
Thanks

Mt2500

I'm trying to tune with one too. Refresh rate is painfully slow, and readings seem a bit weird.
Does the pid for Knock always read "yes" on yours?
Do you occasionally have data stream give strange data with erroneous codes?
I saw 17 degrees of knock today @ idle. No noises in the engine. One 14lb pull shows 0 KR and the next one showed 49 degrees.

I'm getting a Scanmaster!

besides the refresh rate, dont really have a problem with data errors. my pid for knock works correctly. every now and then it'll lock up and then i just clean the aldl termnials and the termnials on the scanner adapter. about once a month i clean my cartdrige termnials with some rubbing alcohol

Whats up with the scanmaster never seen one in action
what are the positives...... the negatives
you can only monitor 1 or 2 parameters at a time correct??
hows the refresh rate with scanmaster
just curious it seems like older tech to me too.

Powerlogger is definately the way to go. Not as simple a hook up as the ALDL conncector, but who want's to watch ALDL data at a refresh rate of 1 update per 1.5 seconds. Snnoooooze.

Powerlogger, because it couples directly to the ECM's address and data buss runs at about an 18HZ refresh rate. That's 18 times per second!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scanmaster and Powerlogger can be reviewd here:

FULL THROTTLE SPEED - Items Page+

The scanmaster plugs into the ALDL terminal, but with the right ECM chip can run a bit faster refresh rate, and is good to use for daily use.

Powerlogger, because of it's interface type and power will require the use of a laptop. And if you already have a scanmaster, and you buy the powerlogger, a new internal chip for the scanmaster is included that allows the powerlogger to input highspeed data from a Wideband O2, or a MAP sensor so you can monitor boost, and another input for EGT.

Having wideband O2 displayed on my scanmaster is a HUGE advantage.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know about win2000, but it runs perfectly on XP. I think there are some that are running it on Vista (with the right set of drivers).
