New Starter...

I just bought a starter (part # 2-1689-DR-2) and it did not have any shims with it. The starter is making some terrible noises. Any suggestions?

Go to your local parts store, they might have them or GM service dept. Not sure if it's all the same but I had used all three shims, 1 bad ,2 shims still cranked bad. 3 just right for me.
