Hey Guys, Headers should be here tommorow, The last 2 sets of headers I removed from Gn's had red High temp silicone instead of gaskets, The TA illustration shows gaskets, What should I use? And also, The car has ARP studs with nuts for all exceptthe #1 where the brackets bolt up and the dipstick stud, what should I torque the studs and nuts to? Thanks for the space, Ryan

TA headers

On their site and AZGN shows new hardware and gaskets that come with headers. A fellow car enthusiast that has a Auto repair shop and races roundy round says that on his race cars(sbc's) the best way that works for his needs is to do headers with just a high temp sealant the key to it working is to let it set up for at least 24 hours before you start it up the 1st time. 24 hr. setup with no heat is the key. He swears by this technique no leaks. I'm goin to try his technique next time I have to change HG's. Others here are definately more qualified to tell you what works for them and our high heat producin engines. Wish that was my problem figuring out how I was goin to clamp down my new TA headers. Saw your post on the previous owners wiring, man that was a psychodelic rats nest what a mess.

Ya, That **** was a big mess, 20 minutes with a side cutter and im back to the clean factory wiring under the dash, not 1 altered stock wire, just alot of fuse taps!! made a clean harness for the aftermarket gauges i installed and it looks great! should run this weekend finally, Just ordered the RJC plenum/spacer and throttle body, should be a welcome addition to whats there, this car should scream!!!!!

I have had great luck with Fel-Pro 1400 gaskets from their high performance catalog.

i would call nick and see what he says. maybe he will post up.

Who is this Nick person you speak of? Where can I call him?? They came with gaskets, they look like nice gaskets, all I have personally seen is high temp red!?!?

My friends, there is but one gasket I will ever trust and they are the ones in my signature. Do not make the mistake of trying anything else, you will be doing the job again. -Dan

P.s Honestly they rock, they compress like 3/16" and made my car dead silent. Don't trust what a sbc guy has to say on this issue.

Get the felpro 1400s

If ur putting the headers on by urself, it will be easier to install them with the felpro 1400s then with the supplied gaskets. The felpros have slotted bolt holes on the end so U can get the two end bolts started thru the header and into the head, then just slide the 1400 right down in there between the header and the head and wrench away. Its the only way to go if ur doing a solo install.

the gaskets that come with the TA headers do not fit very well on stock iron heads. That's all I know.
