I saw a GN with TSM stickers go 9.50 inbetween rounds for TSM Saturday. Anyone know who's car it was? They weren't in eliminations, seemed to just be T&T.

that was not a tsm car that was Steve Hughes with a 9.41@141 and 1.29 short time  .His car was rockin.Congrates to Him on runner up ,Walt Judy on winner of his bracket and Shane Dillinger for his win How does he do that!

Ahhh ok, I thought the little numbers said TSM. To tell you the truth, it kinda snuck up on me. The TSM cars had gone, and there were a few slower cars going. Next thing you know this car screams out of the hole. I'm like whoa where did that come from. :D

1.29 60'. Holy cow. Breakin in the new rear end eh? Looks like you will be handing out a$$es in TSE next season. I'll be rootin for you!!!! You must have been waiting for the rules to come out so they don't outlaw you. :D

Man I can't believe I missed Steves run. I was to buisy checking out that pair of sweet custom built Schwin, gas powered choppers he had in his trailer.

Was that Paul SR. from OCC at the event, or was that Bob Slusser riding that chopper during TSM tech inspection, I couldn't hardly tell.

Just kidding Bob :) . You guys did a nice job on those bikes, your not going to leave the Buick community and start building custom choppers are you? Steve now hat you have went 9.4's in one of the most nicely detailed Buicks what else is their to accomplish?

Nope Ted, not a typo.....Pretty dam close to pump gas boost.... ;)

Yep, you said it!
Dave has been 10-teens at 19psi if memory serves me correct. That sounds like pump gas territory to me! Some will argue the race gas makes more power at the same boost, but I am not convinced if you have enough octane for boost level (detonation not an issue). The guy with the blue Chevelle on our catalog/website that did a lot of swaybar testing for us runs pump gas. He runs fastest with 89 octane! He tried 92, 100, av gas, race gas, etc. Seems like the lower octane burns faster or hottor or?? Got to wonder, octane boosters like lead don't burn at all. Even Dave's 9.7x run at approx 22 psi might be possible on pump gas & alcohol inj ;) Not like the old days, or even 2 years ago! I would like to see a drag radial class & sealed tanks of 92 gas like Car Craft does to make it interesting. Now THAT'S a true street class IMO. That makes the cars more likely to be actually driven on the street. How many hands for TSM cars driven to cruise in's or to work a couple days a week??? Fun to watch em all though :)

PS- You TSM guys need to lobby for Alcohol inj & other products that were designed for STREET use to be legal in TSM. Otherwise, why call it Turbo STREET Modified???? Besides, might lower EGT's & save a piston here & there & keep em together longer & less down time. Make a certain size tank limit to keep people from trying to bend the rules too far  Just an idea... :)
Opening the rules up to street power enhancers (whether we all think they work or not) provokes us manufacturers to think up new ideas to try & market them. This keeps us going faster with class each year. Outlawing things that are designed for street cars or are commonly used on street cars IMO stunts the growth of the class & products available. How about other intercooler methods as long as ice or other components are NOT added to the car between runs?? I like the idea of adding chutes, makes it safer, even if it is a little away from the "street" look the Buicks go for. More of a "Pro-Street" look, but good idea! Haven't heard on bigger downpipes (like Jason's), but why not! I always felt left out when I had my home-made 4" DP, before the 3-1/2" ones were even thought about. Put some of the competition back into the ingenuity of the racers to make up stuff that makes the cars go faster & safer! Not just who has the deepest wallet, or comes down to tuning experience, etc. That just makes it a pro-stock type setup where one day soon the bulk of the cars will be within a few tenths running the same stuff. Course many fast cars will break the weak links, leaving room for slower cars to get in the field. Just some thoughts from my bench racing perspective :) Sorry, just realized how long this was & off topic, just trying to help.

I agree that is a good idea on the alky injection and DRs. Of course that's how I set up my car ;) I drove 100 miles to the track also

I don't think pump gas should be considered. You guys need to see if it lives a while on race gas before rolling the dice with pump gas.

From what I understand, the lower the Octane, the more BTU's you have. It's just very unstable and ignites easier then higher octane.

No the guy is standing on a slight hill. That's nothing compared to a few runs before it when he launched on 20psi instead of his normal 15. That was possibly like 4 or 5 feet or just below the stage lights on the tree.

ACTUALLY.......... he wansn't on a hill at all..... Dave was about 13 ft in the air. The guy taking the picture was a special guest appearance from Dorf on TSM racing...... :D :D :D

BTW, if you had a bigger, more detailed picture you'd be able to see that....

Oh man I completely forgot about Dorf......... That guy was hilarious. I thought he only taught golf, but I did a search and sure enough he has been expanding his horizons. I'll try to attach some photos below. Wow Dorf is making a come back.

Dave stopped by the other day, showed me some pieces of the grenaded motor. He originally thought in the excitement at the track that he had parts of the deck surface in his hands. After things mellowed out & closer inspection, it was parts of the pan rail & other misc stuff. Had a lump of a piston almost exactly like a golf ball, with one little spot with hone marks where the pin used to rest. Still horrendous mess, but maybe not as bad as originally thought. Either way, probably 8k++++ gone down the drain :(

Nice pics & video too, thanks guys & especially Sam Colalillo!!!
On the one where the steering column poped & got dave to lift quickly, it looked like it came up so quick & easy, it could have flipped right over! He would have been doing some serious peddling past the 330 on that one :) Guess that's the difference with just a few psi more on the launch! Next year is going to be interesting.
