i was wondering what guys with a small nitrous shot are doing for fuel setup?are you running a seperate tank and fuel pump or are you drawing right off the fuel rail?how much gain are you seeing out of say a 35 or 50 shot?

It could be done either way. The simpler would be to draw from the fuel rail.

My system is larger than the typical systems people are playing with, but I wouldn't have any problem starting out with a 50 shot. If you're uncomfortable starting out with nitrous, go with the lower HP value. If the performance is not what you expected, it's simple enough to change the jets out and move up.

do you see much gain off a 50 shot on these cars? im used to 300 and 400 shots on small blocks lol

no it was on a 12 to 1 355 chevy but i did later run sa 400 with a 91 mm blowthru steup.no nitrous needed on that one though

I had a Nitrous Express setup a could years ago on my old combo. I was running a 100 shot with 23psi. It was a good kick in the pants. I ran a wet kit and ran the fuel line off the end of the driver side fuel rail. Just make sure you have good fuel pressure and everything is in good working order.

NOS kit in 1986.. 42/45 jets from what I remember.. 60/75 hp?? stock car ran 11.9s with it .. tapped off the fuel rail for fuel.

cool does anybody have a before the nitrous and after times?really curious what a 50 or 100 shot does with no other changes.i hear that a 50 is like 100 with the intercooling effect

With my system I see a .9 to 1.1 second difference in the 1/8. MPH amazingly the same. Present turbo size is obviously holding the car to a certain HP level.

I should also note that I only use the nitrous to spool to 16 psi. That ends up being .8 seconds last time I timed it. With the latest tuneup that time might be less.

so you only spray for .8 seconds on a run and you pick up a full second?thats not even spraying to the 60 ft.wow

high 12s to high 11s just doin the NOS kit. works off a full throttle switch:cool:

You're right. You can hear it in the engine sound in videos of the car too. The nice thing about spraying for such a short period is that 5 lbs of nitrous will last me a good 12 to 16 passes. I waste more than half of that purging.

I change the bottle out when I'm down to 5 lbs. nitrous weight on a 10 pound capacity bottle.

Most of the gain between being on and off the bottle is in the 60 foot. That's with me leaving the line the same way in both cases. Going WOT between the 2nd and 3rd amber. No extra spool up time given when off the bottle. My low torque converter stall prevents that anyway. The nitrous helps push the stall of the torque converter too. Every aspect of the car is tuned for the use of nitrous.

I tried once in the early tuning of the previous engine. It melted some electrodes in second gear. My fault. I rushed into it too quick without making sure the tuneup was right for it. Haven't since. As it is with the present engine and tuneup, I'm practically hazing the tires the complete 1/8. If I were to add the nitrous in for the whole pass without changing the rear tire situation, I could probably get in some real trouble. I think the tires are going away too. This last time out, I had tire chatter all through second gear. Next tire set will be taller.

whats the max hp you would use with my setup?im adding gn1 heads and a ported intake also. this is a stock bottom end with no gridle or anything

Start with a 50 shot. You can't hurt anything with that. As the speed fever develops, you can start increasing it.
