I just got my car back together. When I took my car apart I removed the power steering pump and set it on a shelf for about 4 months. I reconnected it and bolted it back on. I topped off the power steering fluid. After I got the car running I attempted to steer and had nothing. I jacked the front of the car up a little bit to get some weight off the front tires. I started turning the wheel lock to lock and got a bunch of fluid coming out of the breather hole in the resivour cap. I turned the car off and checked the fluid level. Found it registering on the cap dipstick. I then tried a trick I learn working on Jeeps. I raised the front tires off the ground and turned the wheel lock to lock a bunch of times with the vehicle off to blead out the gear box. Dropped the vehicle back on the ground, topped off fluid and started car. Still no power steering. In all my years working on cars ive never had a system not blead out on me. Is there something im missing or a trick for these old GM cars?

Is the serp belt on correctly and the pump turning the correct way?

The flat side of the belt should ride on the top of the pump pulley and make the ribs show toward the top.

Maybe the belt is on incorrectly?

The belt is on correctly. It looks exactly like the belt diagram on the core support.

Im a dumb a**

I found my problem. When I installed the pump I ran the return line around the wrong side of the fuel lines. This caused it to kink right at the pump. Got it all fixed now.
