It's still up to track officials whether or not they let you run.

How many "unaltered 2008 and newer OEM" cars are staying away from the track because they trap faster than 135mph or run under 9.99? None :D

It's 11.50 for a bar

I agree. More people are going to die street racing than roll their car at the dragstrip. Bout time.

The bar rule was made for a reason. These new cars are just so fast out the back door.Let one barrel role at 125 and see if the driver walks away.o_O Oh and who is teching the 'Stock" unmodified cars.It is so easy to hide stuff today :DNHRA will change their mind when the first person is killed.

I think they should add 86-87!!!!

Anyone can tip toe around. I have been running at local tracks for 6 years with cars too fast to not have a roll bar or cage. I went 9.24, 9.02, and finally 8.94@151 in a t-top car with no more safety gear than it came with from the factory, and nothing was ever said to me. This is at a major NHRA track. My racing is limited. I take the cars to the track to prove what they will run. Usually tuning is done on the street, which is dangerous too.
On a side note, my car is getting a 8.5 cert cage this winter so I can actually race at our local 8.9 race this coming year. Time to have some fun.
Back to the subject, rolling over in a new car going 120 plus isn't going to be good. This is just trying to get $ out of the new cars that run mid 11's or faster either stock or with little bolt ons. New cars are filling the staging lanes, and most of them are getting turned away, making a stockish car need thousands of dollars in safety equipment. People are buying these cars, and want to race them. Not to mention my local tracks are at 1/4 to 1/2 the amount of racers they used to have 10 years ago.

i saw a few pics recently of a newer CTS-V that barrel rolled at something like 150mph... the car was a mangled ball of steel, but the driver's compartment was intact and the driver walked away. try that in your GN without a cage, race seat, and 5 point safety harness.
it's a fact that newer cars are built stronger and safer than older cars, so some of the safety standards that would apply to something from the mid 80's wouldn't need to be applied to something built in the last 5 years or so.

i don't have a problem with grown adults risking their own lives, Sign the waivers and go at it at your own risk. This babysitting shit is ridiculous.

I agree with this also, until I saw a C5 corvette get out of shape spinning the tires in 3rd gear, crossed into the other lane and took out the other car:mad:I don't think I would have been real happy. These new cars show up on a Friday night and they have never been down a track before and it is pedal to the metal and they don;t lift no matter what the tires are doing.

that also happens when a newbie shows up with a ratty old POS, too. hell, sometimes people with decades of experience do it, too.

Funny thing in Florida you dont need a helmet for a motorcycle but must have one when riding a bicycle.

If you sign the waiver.. its on you.

The only issue I have is when cars go sub 10's.. thats when body flex and twist play a role and can create a dangerous condition. Along with proper bolts, lugs, etc.. the kitchen sink.

I roll in with a/c, and launch off the footbrake. Many have preached to me about safety, but I agree with Razor and TurboPowered68, sign the waivor and it's on you. We've idiot proofed the world and got a world full of idiots. If I run 10's, so be it; it's a street car. But sub 10's needs equipment for reasons above.

what safety equipment are these cars using in the street?
the other option is to keep the safety guys and "wreckfull" guys separated. that way a flexing frame doesn't take-out some one with safety equipment.
I admit that as a personal goal, I want to make at least one single run in the high tens and get booted but at the same time i am not looking to go faster than 10.90 anyways.

You like driving over puddles of water? I don't.

Signing the waiver takes care of you. I don't really want a car in the lane next to me whose driver doesn't consider the safety of others.
