So I started the car and drove it about 5 miles this morning. Parked it and came back out a few mins later and now it won't start. It cranks like its going to starty but it won't. When I press the gas pedal while trying to start it, it backfires. Tried jumper cables bc the battery was showing 11 volts but that doidnt work. Asked the giuy with the jumper cables to watch the fuel pressure gauge and he said it stayed at 40lb no more or less. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? Thanks in advance and forgive my spelling abd puncuation on a blackberry not so easy to type

Flaky ignition module will do that as well, ask me how I know

Thanx for the replies, will look into both tomorrow.

It actually has been doing something out of the ordinary thinking back on it before thiss happened.
Didn't happen all the time and usually only haPened only after the car was running around for hourd... The car would hesitate under throTtle and the scanmaster would show o2s crazy lean while it was happening.... Talking like 100s and lower at times...

Could the fuel pump have died. It has a walbro but was from long before the bad pumpss.
Car pretty mich has a new everything built by true buick pros not hacked together by amateurs.
Engine trans and most accessories have just a little over two thousand miles on them.
The thing worth mentioning is that the car sat for a coulpe of years after it was built..... Forget wheb it was built but went a couple years and saw 800 miles and I put it into regular weekend driver service this year and has seen abou 1200 trouble free miles until this. The only thing not right that happened before this was the random hesitations/lean running over the past month.

Thanx for any advice. I know these cars quite well in basic terms but I'm a little stumped right now...

We can guess at what it could be and might get lucky but it could get expensive that way.

Here is a better way, go to this site and follow the troubleshooting sections.

Trouble Shooting

Pull the fuel injector harness off an injector (mash in on the spring clip on the bottom of the connector and lift the connector off the injector). Plug your Noid light into the connector. Crank the engine. Does the light blink steadily while cranking? (this verifies that the injectors are receiving injector pulses from the ECM and the crank and cam sensors are working)

Hope it is the ignition module... That's the only part mentioned that I have known good spares of.

Thanks again for all advice!!!
