What would be the cause of not building oil pressure?
I pulled my old 85 engine and put a new 87 one in, tried to fire it up yesterday and now the new engine wont build oil pressure at all. Where should I start looking to figure this out.

is the oil pick up screen clogged or mising? if it isnt take the oil filter off, then take the pump apart, pack the gears with vasoline, then put it back together, then take out the cam sensor and spin the pump till there is oil pressure the drill will get slower when oil pressure builds.

Honestly...I'm not 100% sure how long it was sitting. Maybe a year tops.
Is there anything severly wrong internally in the engine that would cause no oil pressure?

The oil pump simply lost it's prime. I've heard this couple times now, take the oil cooler lines loose and pour oil in them. Then for sure pull the cam sensor and drive the oil pump with a drill until pressure builds. If you take note of the sensor wheel posision you can drop it back in the same way and won't have to reset it. .
