Post as much info on your data and tune as you can, but running 730's at WOT in 3rd is scary.

And I'll agree with everyone that says the stock or restall converters are lame ( if none then I'll be the first to say it ), all of us who have gone to a killer converter will say we should've done it sooner.

o2's are .800-.830ish though the gears....changed chip

The definition of lag is the couple seconds that the guy you are racing thinks he is going to win!! I had the same thing with a new Z06. I left without even putting it on the converter :)

when you say "putting it on the converter" what do you mean? I'm trying my best to understand converters....what does the car feel like when normal driving with say a 3000 stall? does the car have to come up to 3000 rpm before it moves? surly not? is it sluggish until 3000?

First thing id do is be sure the wastegate puck is closing completely and sealing on the exhaust housing. Verify the geometry with the pipe unbolted.

now, when I had this problem with the stock DP it was obvious that it was not sealing...now with the bigger DP and puck...is there a easy way to tell...I 'm thinking it's gonna be hard to tell if its say partially covering....

The 6162BB is the Turbo that I would like to get but can't afford right now.Even with my Te-44 and stock modified 2800 D5, I don't think it spools that great. There is no doubt a 3200 LU converter would be best for the 6161 Turbo.A few guys have 3400 converter's with this Turbo but I think thats too much converter for street driving.I don't know who makes the best 3200 LU but I know the Vigilante 9.5 Inch single disc is among the best.

You should be able to tell by the carbon marks from the exhaust.

If you can't tell maybe try putting a little silver anti-sieze compound on the puck, bolt it back up, swing the arm and take it off again. The anti sieze should transfer on to the turbo housing.

Im looking to change to a THDP instead of the Racegate I have near the crosspipe.I think the THDP will help with the spooling of the Turbo better. The Racegate's were meant for bigger Turbo's but I will probably never go beyong a 61BB Turbo especially when many guy's get into the 10's with it.No need to go any faster then that because I like the power on the street and 93 octane.

You take the pipe off and look at the mark the puck left on the housing for starters. You have to verify that it is sitting square on the housing also. You do this by observing the path of the swing arm with the pipe unbolted. Ive seen the swing arm shaft in the wrong location:eek: . If this happens the puck cant sit squarely over the hole. You may not have noticed with the stock turbo but with a bigger exhaust wheel and housing it will be a problem. What a/r is the housing? If its a .85 the D5 isnt going to cut it

#1 Make sure the puck swings nice on the DP with out the wastgate hooked up. "Not Sticking"

#2 Measure the hole on the exhaust side of the turbo when you take off the DP.

#3 Do you have little tension on waste-gate while using the RJC controller?

#4 With your new turbo are you sure your catalytic converter isn't clogged inhibiting the new flow?

.63 turbine housing

not sticking swings smooth

yes there is tension about 1/8 of inch

dont have a cat

don't have a stock maf anymore....
alky comes on at 10 psi and progressively maxes out at 20

If you take some vacuum hose and loop it at the turbo bypassing the RJC controller the boost should come up instantaneously. When doing this you need to take your foot out of it fast! It will spool to the moon. That's one way to check if it's the wastegate.
