Just installed my freshly rebuilt transmission and the damn thing won't shift out of 1st gear. I have reverse and 1st gear, that's it. Anybody know what would cause this? I did a quick search through some older posts, but right now I'm so pissed that I can't sit still for 2 freakin minutes.

Somebody please help me. I sound pathetic.

O. K. That post was very pathetic. We figured it out, the TV cable wasn't adjusted correctly and I spaced it. Sorry for taking up valuable space for somebody else's REAL QUESTION.

Now I have something hitting under the car. DAMN! I'm not touching this stupid car next winter. We think it's the driveshaft loop. The driveshaft is ever so close to the loop at the top. You can't even get a finger in between them. I guess I'll take the loop back out and see if it still makes the noise.

Sorry for rambling, I'm just very anxious to get this thing running right again.

Good to hear it is going again. Tell me how the new trans is working now, I don't want to wait till BG to hear the results. Like Ramin said, you learned a lot about the trans with all that work and it will make a good story later on after the dust settles  . Plus I can call you with any tranny questions I have  .

We will be in BG by 6 or 7 p.m. What time will you get there?

Update

After we got my trans shifting correctly and all, I pushed the car a bit to see how it shifted at part throttle. The trans shifted into 2nd at around 4000 RPM's and something hit right below us in the vicinity of the trans.

Turns out the driveshaft was hitting my newly installed loop at the top. Does that mean that the tail mount needs to be replaced? Who knows. For now, the thing drives down the road pretty well and she's going to Bowling Green on Wednesday come hell or high water.

Tim, we'll be leaving here around 3-5 PM on Wednesday afternoon and won't get down there until 6 hours or so later. See ya there bud! :p
