nylon buttons on rocker shafts

what is the correct way to install these nylon buttons on the rocker shafts?

warm them up in a cup of hot water and drive them in with a hammer,

A 1/2" drive extension or a 3/4" flat faced punch will help also. Good call on warming them up in hot water. I tried a torch, but they caught fire and melted onto my fingers.

I do the same as turbofabricator. Make sure you hammer on them straight or you'll break the button head off.

I hate those stupid buttons.

i pressed mine in with a vice. i tried the hammer method but they kept breaking.

i put a large socket on one side so the vice wasn't pressing directly on the rocker. then a smaller socket the same size as the button on the button and tighten the vice. seemed to work well, no broken buttons.
