oil accumulators

how do they "pre lube" the bearings? i can understand it helping maintaing higher oil press. but how does it prelube?? explain to me if i was a 5th grader

I believe you can use these accumulators in the following fashion:

- put a valve on the accumulator nozzle
- plumb the other end of the valve into an oil line
- when the engine is running, the accumulator pressures up
- close the valve before you shut the engine off. This keeps the accumulator at pressure - 20 psi or so assuming you shut the valve at hot idle.
- right before you start the car next time, open the valve
- the 20 psi in the accumulator pushes oil out through the line into the engine, prelubing it.
- start the car, and repeat
- it would be a lot easier to do with a remotely operated solenoid valve instead of a manual valve!
