Trying to clean up a surging issue up in higher boost , I decided to gap my plugs closer to .28 from the previous .34 to see if it would help.

While changing ea. & everyone one of my plugs had oil all around the threads?? none up top on the tip of the plug or the insulator, just the threads. Is it possible that from the boost pressure it's pushing oil up through the threads? I have aluminum heads & was just wondering what was possibly going on. thanks for replies in advance. I'm off to get some new plugs. I'll check back a little later today.

Your getting oil in the cylinders from somewhere...rings...valve guides...pcv...ect.

could also be something stupid like a valve cover leak.. the head can appear and feel dry, but it will collect around the plugs and wick into the threads.

Ok, thanks fellas, I'll check the valve covers a little closer. fixed the surging issue by closing the gap to .28... now it doesn't do it anymore.

I think I'll change the plugs in another day or two and check the covers .
