Ok so since I have my crossover pipe out right now , I want to replace oil pan gasket . I have searched and read many different opinions on gaskets I’m going with cometic , the question I have is some people lift engine up remove bolts from motor mounts hand turn crank to drop the pan is all this necessary ?how are you guys doing it ? Looking for the least complicated way to change this out any tips and advice is greatly appreciated thank you

You should be able to remove the pan without lifting the engine. Might have to rotate the crank. If your engine still has the original rope seal it's time to do that also while you're under there.

All depends on the condition of your motor mounts. I have the HR motor mounts & changed my gasket with some finagling to get pan out & in. Didn’t have to rotate crank.

It gets a lil tight gettin past the flexplate, more of an issue going back in when you want to keep things neat & tidy for the new gasket. If you want to make sure it’s gonna be easy just pull the motor mount bolts and lift it up an inch.

Cometic gasket & some anaerobic sealant

If removing the gasket difficult with the anaerobic sealant on there? I like the idea, just curious if it has any drawbacks?

Yes needs to be scraped off like RTV. It’s pretty tough once it’s set. No chance the gasket will survive for a 2nd go either.

I like cork, had my pan on and off a couple of times. Pulled it off put it right back on. No fuss, no muss, no leaks.
