tore the beast down for the usual rear main leak, changed oil pump pickup screen while I was there. Pan came off without incident, but does not want to go back on. Seems to be hitting the screen at the pan baffle, any words of wisdom:eek:

If I recall correctly, most of my reinstall problems had to do with clearance around the front counterweight on the crankshaft. Try rotating it up out of the way.

I also recall unbolting the front motor mounts so I could raise the front of the block and gain clearance between the block and the crossmember.

Good luck,

Reach up into the pan with your hand and carefully pull up on the baffle then slide it past the pickup...

I had to rotate the pan into place, starting with the front of the pan facing the side of the car.

Tie the gasket to the pan through the bolt holes with a few pieces of string helps to keep it from being a concern, so you can focus on mounting the pan.

Also I hit the front counter weight. And it took a few tries to get it in but u will know cause it will fit right up.
I had a lift though. But did not have to mess with raising the motor.... there was plenty of room.
