Hey guys,
I just rebuilt my hot air motor with a high volume oil pump from Federal Mogul. With the Kit I had the choice of a few different springs for different pressure. I went with the 60 psi spring. I also installed an electric VDO 100psi pressure guage. When I start the car the needle goes across the guage and buries itself over 100psi. I've driven it and still it remains the same. WHy is this? Could I have wired the guage wrong and if so wouldn't it do this once it had power instead of only once the engine is cranking? For piping I installed a brass T so I could keep my stock pressure sender and then with a thread adapter I installed the VDO sender. Could this be a problem? Being a new motor friends have said that my oil pressure maybe high before the motor breaks in. Should I simply put the lightest spring in the oil pump for now? I believe that would be a 40psi spring. I appreciate any help you guys can send me.
