Oil pressure sensor

Just wondering if i should install my oil pressure sensor . i removed it years back when installing oil press gauge.
I believe it triggers the oil idiot light
But i thought i read the ecm also looks at it before starting soo any info fellas

The computer doesn't look at that switch. It's for the oil idiot light and has a redundant power circuit for the fuel pump.
