i'm getting ready to rebuild my front cover and pump while the motor is being finished. when i pulled the pump drive gear (the long one that rides on the cam sensor) out of the cover it was really really tight. i had a hard time getting it out. it doesn't slide in and out easy.

is that how it's supposed to be? or should it go in and out easy?

It most likely has a bunch of oil residue on the top part of the shaft and closed up the tolerance of the bore. Or the very top has a booger on it from the cam sensor driving it and you scored up a very important bore.

i think it was just residue. i cleaned everything up last night and it moves smooth now.
