My oil preesure fall off alot after the oil get hot i need to replace oil pump is the oil pump mounted to the side of the motor or must i drop the pan to get to it?

The oil pump is part of the front cover. If pressure is getting that bad the cover may need to be replaced due to clearences going out.

when you say fonet cover are you talking the timeing chain cover what do i need to do to get to the pump?

yea he mine thr front cover were the oil filter screws on that is your oil pump. If you take the oil filter off you will see i think two little bolts on the inside top, pull them and there is four more on the bottom of the pump. take it off slow or the gears will fall out.

When you put it back together make sure you prim the oil pump so it gets oil. The only thing i could get to work is pack vasile in it real good. I know it sounds funny but it does work, it the only thing i could get to work is pack the gears good.

Dont be like me and not prime it after a rebuilt motor.

thanks for the information you sound like the man to talk to you have done alot of mods to your car you take care and once again thanks.

when i first start it pressure is about 60 to 80 lbs when it heats up it falls to about 15 to 25 lbs.

Goin on with the priming thing.. before you start it the first time disconnect the ecm or fuel pump and crank it over until the oil pressure light goes off.

If you start off with like 20lbs hot and it goes up 10lbs per 1000 rpm then you dont need to worry.

no when it is cold to makes 60 to 80 lbs when it gets hot it falls off to 10to 20 lbs that is as high as it goes.

if your only geting 20lbs max. you need to stop driving the car and find out the prob. Im not very good at diagnosing with the car not in front of me, but there are some guys on here that are very good at it, so I will let them take over from here. Sorry I couldnt help you.

I just want to clarify something. When it's hot do you have 15-20psi at idle but it raises as the rpms increase or is it 15-20 when you rev it? If it's the first you're fine, nothing to worry about. If it's the second you more than likely have more than just oil pump problems.

Do you have any oil leaks or taps coming from the motor . Ieat the main rope seal and got it stuck in the oil pick up stoping 90% of the oil to the motor . you might want to drop the oil pan to be safe. It eat my main bearings so dont drive or start the car till you find the problem.

If you're going from 80 to 15 psi, you could be a victim of some broken nylon timing gear teeth! The pieces of teeth will get sucked up thru the baffle in the oil-pump intake screen, and as you drive, more pieces will work their way up the tube, and slowly block off your oil supply to the pump! When you shut down, *most* of the pieces will fall out of the tube and back into the screen after awhile...Then when you cold start, you have plenty of oil pressure--until the teeth start working their way up the tube! (I say "most" because eventually more and more teeth stay stuck! --been there, done that!--)

The rope-seal can do the same thing, like crazy mentioned--but if you're rear main isn't leaking, that's probably not it!

However, if you're pump is giving you up to 80 psi cold, I think most of us would agree, your problem isn't the pump!

Iwas mising the hole rope seal from the frount cover behind the crank pulley and no oil leaks ether. Ether way i say drop the oil pan and check the oil pick up .

Dont be like me and eat some bearing, its worth the time to check it out.

just my 2cents:)

i hear what your saying but if i had broken theeth my motor wounld run bad
