Kinda concerned.
Drove my car and at the drive through the window gal told me nice car then said burning a little oil.... When I cranked it up a few days before after it had set for a few weeks it did smoke for a bit but seemed to go away. I don't see any smoke in the mirrors or when I get out in the garage. Engine sounds ok the only thing I did recently before all this was playing with the trans break I bumped it to second and smoked the tires till it quit, but forgot to shift it to third so I was afraid I over revved it ... Everything sounds ok though so maybe it survived that bit of stupidity on my part. Think I hit about 60 mph fwiw.

For peace of mind give your car the once-over. Check valve-cover & breathers, pcv, back of intake, rear main and fly wheel inspection pan. Or maybe she just mistook the tire smoke for oil smell?

I'll do that. I am planning to drive the car on the power tour this year and feel stupid I did something stupid like I did. One other thing the car has always took a couple seconds to start . Longer than than my other cars cranking in the starter. Is this just how these car are?

The 86's had a longer cranking time, which was corrected in the 87's. Some of the older aftermarket chips did also. I don't believe you over revved it, you most likely would have hit the rev limiter if that was the case. Go thru the "spring cleaning" on www.gnttype .org and that will probably clear up the longer cranking time if you have a TT chip.

Started the car up in the garage today it was a cool rainy day do it was white smoking till I got the water out of the pipes. I could not see any blue in the smoke and after it warmed it if it's there it's almost in detectable. I only smelled raw not cataleptic gas fumes myself. Car has always cranked over about 2 seconds before starting . Kinds used to my others that about 1/2 on the starter and they fire off. I put on the under hood braces I hit from kirbans today too do that and the seat braces are now on the car. I hope it tightens thing up. So far the front sub frame braces have been the best chassy improvement.

The '86-'87 turbo Buick's can take up to two full revolutions before they start. This is due to the ICM needing to sync up with the cam sensor. Once the cam sensor comes around the ICM will spark the plugs and send reference pulses to the ECM to fire the injectors.

Buick later came out with the quick-start system. Which reduces this to a maximum of 2/3's of an engine revolution before spark and fuel occurs. The quick-start system can be retro-fitted to the '86-'87 TB's.

A blown seal on a turbo will do it. Easy check to loosen down pipe and see if there is any black oil on the exhaust side

The braces help a lot in keeping the body distortion down. My 87 is caged, but I still have the front lower braces. Is your car a T-top? If so you should see a good improvement over nonbracing. On my old 86 hard top, I had the "B" pillar crack on the drivers side and the roof weld buckle on the passenger side from the body twist w/o bracing.
As far as the "oil" problem goes, it doesn't seem to have one. The old 42# inj. used to have a problem w/idling rich and when I went to 52#'ers I still had the same problem. Thank God for the newer TT chips and the adjustabilty w/the translators. BTW "Happy Easter!"

Check the exhaust manifolds (or headers) for oil stains. That high rev may have caused it to spit some oil. My cars does the same thing out of the passenger side breather when I get on it for more than a couple seconds. Smell goes away after the oil burns off.

Thanks I'll check it out.
I don't smell any oil just a little raw fuel.
No knocks or rattles engine sounds fine .

Try not to hit rev limiter with Alky on, bad things can happen but it sounds like your o.k. and no harm was done.

Ok strange things again . I started the car up in the shop again this morning cool rainy day so the pipes were white smoking and dripping water. I swear I smelled oil though and there was a blue tint to it ! It went away and I cranked up twice later in the day and it was clear with no oil smell!
Was wanting to drive the car on the power tour maybe I'm paranoid .
