I lost to a new vette (highway)from about 70mph until I let off. Don't know what kind it was. Damn fast!!

I lost to a trailered Chevy II with a BBC and NOS 11.6 to 11.7. I also lost to an Alky dragster - he ran a 7.1 at 190mph
I think he was back in the pit taking off his fire suit when I crossed the line.

80k 350z? Who's was it?

I'm very fond/slightly knowledgable of these cars and if it was an 80k car it had to have been a shop's.

my buddies 300ZX TT. Its putting out 577 RWHP without nitrous. With nitrous he has another 70hp. supprisingly i hung with him quite well

the only cars I have ever lost to on the street (legit races) were a highly modded LT1 (when I was running a stock turbo at 23 psi) and a brand new Porsche 911 when i had my TE-44 turbo and 50's combo...both these races were from 65 mph to 120 mph or so...little did I know back then...other than that there's not much around here that drives on the street because of the strict emissions laws...

I can recall this in vivid imaging.

My POS 1981 TA with 400 4bbl 15:30
vs a Ferrari replica with SBC that did 10:00.

YIKES 5 second diff is A LOT of car lenghts.

3 years ago my GN 14:70 was beat pretty bad by Grumpy's Daughter 12:40.

All other races have been close or I have won.

This years GN 13:70 vs a Z06 Vette 13:00 at mid track I thought the ZO6 had the turbo.

I ran a 4 door 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive power stroke. lost a $100 and my pride. He was launching with 20 lbs of boost in 4 wheel,
all i saw was black smoke.

My only loss was to a twin turbo stroked C5. He said he put over 600 to the wheels, the way that thing moved I beleive him.

An 03 cobra on the hiway. I knew the guy and he was totally instigating me. I knew I would lose but it was fun. He walked right on past me.

Back in ~71, I raced a Daytona. Yes, the winged job. He absolutely left me in his wake. Turned out to be *King Willie*, of the LA Street Racers, at the time it was a KB Hemi powered ride.
Lost to a BBC Camaro, called Misacarriage again about the same time frame. Never knew a car could hook like that on the street.
Then there was a 56 Ford called the Dog Catcher, that actually wheelied as he went by.

The topper was a Pantera...
Was in a 65 Fury ex-FL state pursuit car. Below 50 the Fury was a slug, but from a roll was lots of fun, and did a good job of lighting the rear tires up going into high gear, at ~100. Well, this Pantera, sorta rolls into it, and we just *match* each other up until about 70, and it was ironic that we both actually hit it at the same time. Well I gave him a run up until about 72 MPH at which time he engaged the warp drive, and just disappeared.
Was easy to find him again, since he had 67 GTO tail lights. Turns out to have had some Bad 351, and a set of 4 webers on it. Did it ever sing.

Gave up street racing years ago..........

Pontiac Firehawk, when GN was stock. I looked over and laughed, he jumped into the turning lane, as we made the turn he was gone, I don't even remember if I ever touched the gas pedal. Live and Learn.

69 Camaro, again stock GN. 69 Camaro pulled up and the group of people I was with pretty much forced me into my car. Peer pressure is a B!tch. We lined up, my buddy counted down from 3 are we were off ,he got the jump, I hit second and we left him standing still. Went back to talk to the guy and he said he thought he had a cop behind him so he stopped. He wouldn't tell us anything about his car, a real prick. I don't consider it a loss, but others did. I don't see how I lost if he never finished the race. Plenty of cars get the jump, most of the races I read about or have seen the other car always gets the jump on the GN, it's what happens after that that matters.

If I had found TurboBuick.com before these events I would have never run the GN stock without the essentials, mainly a scanmaster. It was stupid on my part and I'm glad I didn't break anything.

I haven't lost to anything on the street.

Then again, I'm probably the only jackass that will cruise around on ET Drags and Cam 2. :o

My first loss was in my '73 Z/28 against a modded (didn't know it at the time) '70 340 Cuda. It was close but he beat my by about 1.5 car lengths. Came to find out I was running his cammed/heads/intake packaged 340 with my bone stock 245 hp SBC so I didn't feel too bad.

The only other memorable loss was in my last GN, shortly after I got it and had only done the spring cleaning and a new set of valve springs along with an open test pipe. I was at the track and had just beaten a BBC '69/'70 Nova that sounded ultra wicked (but the dude couldn't drive to save his ass). I line up next against this yellow, '60-ish Volkswagen Bug with a huge bee-stinger of an exhaust that sounded like some angry bees.

I ripped off a solid low 13 second run against his high 10 second dash that made me look like I was parked!  That was one bug that could FLY!

You just never know sometimes...

I got beat by a fairly stock looking/sounding IROC about a week into owning my T-Type, back in '91. We were lined up at a light, and I tried building a little boost. Light goes green, my tires go up in smoke  .
Oh well, it was a learning experience. And it looked kinda cool.

Got to watch a C4 Vette fly past me on the highway one time. Was cruising along near 55, and see him coming up pretty quick in my mirror. Thought I'd get on it and see if I could stay in front, but it didn't take long for me to see that wasn't going to work, I pulled into the left lane and waved as he went past. Never saw him again, he stayed in it and I slowed back to the speed limit. Sounded pretty healthy when it went by me.

But I never really went out looking for races. Had a 90's Camaro roll up to on the freeway once and try so hard to get me to go, but I was limping my car home from staorage with a busted rear spring. Had to just shake my head 'no' and let him go on his way.

Your not ;)

I lost to 2 Camaros back to back one night when my 99 GT had a V2 S-trim. A 99 SS on a 100 shot and a 97 Z28 with a Vortech T-trim. Bastards!
It pissed me off enough to put a turbo system on with the biggest turbo it came with. With T-76, I didn't lose another race from the time it hit the street until I sold it 3 years later.

I plan to build the GN into a solid 11 sec car by next Summer to cut down a few LS1s & Mustangs. :D
