I'm new to the GN's. I've always admired them, but thought they were out of my league. That is, until Saturday night. I came across a guy selling his 87 GN for $6,000. It's got 130,000 miles. Sounds like it runs good, but the price seems low. Maybe I just found a good deal, but I want to be on the safe side. Anything you guys can tell me to look for? How to tell if it's a clone?

Thanks for the help!

I don't know, $6000 for a GN with 130,000 miles on it might not be such a low price. Is it in good shape? I bought my Regal Turbo T (in the same league as a GN) pretty much run into the ground with 115K miles on it for under a $1000. Even if it was well maintained, with that kind of mileage expect alot of little things to be worn out on the car, especially in the the interior and driveline problems like the transmission.

130,000 miles for a car that is 19 years old isn't too bad in my opinion. I'd look at the body for any rust. That would be MY main concern. Everything mechanical can be rebuilt or replaced.

Also be sure to check the VIN (should start with 1G4GJ..) and the RPO options code sticker on the trunk lid. The code for the GN option is WE2.

130, 000 isn't so bad for a 19 year old car, but it's still high. Mechanical things can be replaced, but if worn out can also be used as a bargaining chip. Maybe it's not a bad deal considering I spent probably close to $10,000 on mine since iv'e owned it. :frown:

sounds like a great price to me..as long as the body isnt rusting away, your getting it cheap..the motor could be re-built if needed and your still in cheap..imo

Thanks for the help guys... I was kinda inbetween this GN and a Hayabusa. After talking to a mechanic that worked on the GN, I decided to go with the Bike. Nothing Major with the car, but the bike gets better MPG and I fit better (I'm 6'10"). This car has been for sale for a while, and I don't forsee it dissappering anytime soon. Maybe when I get some more money, I'll pick it up. ;)

To answer DonnieShort's question, It's an 87.
